    I don't have a racist bone in my body, and I'm an educated and reasonable guy.... This whole Ferguson situation isn't about race. Race had NOTHING to do with it. Here are the FACTS, and apparently, the grand jury and the evidence agree... 1. Michael Brown goes into a store and commits a strong arm robbery. 2. Call goes out to police. 3. Officer Darren Wilson spots brown and confronts him. 4. Brown attacks Wilson and Wilson defends himself. 5. Brown died in the commission of a felony. I have ZERO sympathy for thugs who commit crimes and die in the process, white or black. JUSTICE WAS SERVED!

      I don't care whether you are right or wrong. ..but do take into account that there are innocent people that have gotten the death-penalty. To quote;

      After the third shot, Brown’s hands started going down, and he moved about 25 feet toward Wilson, who kept backing away and firing.

      So it took a few more shots. But at least we have proof, thanks to the facts, that justice was served :laugh:

        It's not a racist thing at all. People used the Brown kid as a lead in. It's not like one incident happened, they feel opressed and want something to change. It's unfortunate that after they found a cause to stand up for, the guy was found to be something other than what was being portrayed. That doesn't change that there is a problem. That just means they used the wrong incident to stand up for themselves. On top of that, many race baiters ran with the situation. That made this specific case wide spread sensationalized news about a racist cop. Completely distorting everything as usual, so the real message was lost or muted.

          Every time someone says they're not racist I assume from that moment on that they are.

            Never assume anything... In any case, if you call someone a racist, how do you expect to respond? Be a bit like an innocent man being accused of rape saying "I'm not a rapist". In your mind he is now extra guilty.

                That's ridiculous. I said it because as soon as someone starts talking about someone who's black, everyone assumes they're racist, so I put out the disclaimer first.

                    I can cope with people talking about black people (or any other colour) without thinking they're racist. Only racist people think otherwise. People who assume they will be considered racist so have to get their defence in first on the other hand. Like, to take an example from above, if you started a conversation about sex by saying "I'm not a rapist" I'd think to myself that's an odd thing to say, he must be a bit rapey.

                      Protesters insist he died because of stereotype: black=criminal So they fight with this stereotype by starting riots, destroying public (and private) property, hurting other people and stealing TVs from stores. It makes sense, doesn't it?

                            I'm basically with you - But I also often hear people being shot multiple times by cops. I'm an Air Force Sergeant, and from my (and my instructor's) experiences I can tell you that you don't need to shoot someone multiple times, once they're hit they are unlikeable to be dangerous. If cops need more than two shots to bring someone down they aren't racist, but in need of more training at the gun. I can hit an area of 2 square inches over a distance of 27 Yards, why shouldn't a cop be able to do the same?

                              I'm making it a lot simpler for me. I assume everyone to be a racist to some extent. I have never met a person that's without prejudice. And that's simply how we are constructed, it's not even a conscious choice, it's simply how our learning process works. Actually, scrap that, there are people without prejudice. It's small children that never learnt or knew about different people. And as I hate double standards emphatically, and I'm doing my very best to treat people the same, I still know that I will keep on checking my wallet every time I've been approached by a beggar.

                                    We live in a racist society. If we did not the report would have said a policeman shot an unarmed 18 year old with no mention of race. By news accounts you would think Mr. Brown was an innocent small kid not a large mean man. Notice I left out the word young (man) as that would not be PC. :) It is hard for anyone when the media labels you. Innocent or guilty if the media says something true or not, people will go along with it. Imagine if the media reports were "Criminal attacks policeman and is killed" what kind of outcry then? I am not saying Mr. Brown was a criminal as he has not been convicted of the robbery, this is a hypothetical example.

                                      Agreed. But it starts with classifying people into groupings based on your prejudices. It's rather more of a grayscale. When does it stop being a prejudice and turn into racism?

                                        I'm basically with you - But I also often hear people being shot multiple times by cops. I'm an Air Force Sergeant, and from my (and my instructor's) experiences I can tell you that you don't need to shoot someone multiple times, once they're hit they are unlikeable to be dangerous. If cops need more than two shots to bring someone down they aren't racist, but in need of more training at the gun. I can hit an area of 2 square inches over a distance of 27 Yards, why shouldn't a cop be able to do the same?

                                          Indeed we do. Is there any (reasonably) unbiased news source where I read about this?
