Fun stuff  Inside Windows Update[^] Sample HW-Config[^] Cheers,Joao Vaz And if your dream is to care for your family, to put food on the table, to provide them with an education and a good home, then maybe suffering through an endless, pointless, boring job will seem to have purpose. And you will realize how even a rock can change the world, simply by remaining obstinately stationary.-Shog9 Remember just because a good thing comes to an end, doesn't mean that the next one can't be better.-Chris Meech

Heh! I just finished reading through the usual slashdot madness on this and was gonna post this here, damn you beat me to it :) This seems pretty heinous if they are actually sending up a list of all the apps you have on your machine which is what the non-pay-per-view article seems to imply. ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Real Mentats use only 100% pure, unfooled around with Sapho Juice(tm)!

Have no doubts, they are sending this information, they changed the Eula em Windows 2000 with sp3(IIRC) to reflect this , and they are using it since the beginning in Windows XP ... you known new politics concerning piracy combat ... Interesting read, thanks for posting the pdf. It seems to say that rather than scanning your disk, the update control simply scans the list of software in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOSFTWARE. So anyone writing software who does NOT want to be on MS list could simply save things else where. ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Thanks for the interesting read Joao, also for providing access to the members only pdf. You wouldn't have access to the Product Activation pdf mentioned at the bottom of the WindowsUpdate pdf?
