Best things to spend money on

Now we have an almost complete map of how to waste money (marriage, car, food...), let see what worth to buy...
Skipper: We'll fix it. Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this? Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.
Every time I run down to Amsterdam, I run into English or American "gentlemen" who, upon seeing that I'm a native English speaker, seem happy to inform me what they believe the best things to spend money on are, and ask me where to find them. My customary response is not KSS, so I shan't post it here.
I wanna be a eunuchs developer! Pass me a bread knife!

A day out with a loved one, be that an amusement park, museum, sight-seeing, you name it :D Things come and go, but memories are forever (unless you get some brain damage or disease, but at that point everything else might be pretty worthless too).
public class SanderRossel : Lazy<Person>

public void DoWork()
{
throw new NotSupportedException();
}
}I like the idea! :thumbsup:

That could actually be one for the soapbox...

Um, HoloLens?
Your time will come, if you let it be right.

Travelling. Go meet other places, other cultures, other experiences. You have only one life to live, so make the most out of it, either alone or with someone else. I just wish I had more time and money to do it more often. My fingernails even grow when I do it :-D PS: Let's not go religious about the "one life to live" part.

+5:thumbsup: I have a little girl as well... and a shotgun and a swamp conveniently located 100 yards from my back door. Any investors best not be thinking of a "hostile take over" :mad:

Good Books are my answer.

:thumbsup: Well said, Fabio. Also “I spent 90% of my money on women and drink. The rest I wasted” (or some variation which suits you).

Things that last and always give you joy. A nice pair of leather shoes, a fine watch, a good dog, professional cutlery, etc. If it lasts a decade or more, it's worth buying the best that you can afford.

I am a teacher and trainer. I disagree, education with online resources (udacity, coursera, udemy, kanacademy) are mostly free and teach you faster than anything you can spend money on.

Burn everything you have and build a new life in a new place with your money. The reason can be found in a story of The Psychology of optimal experience by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.
"The Shuswap region was and is considered by the Indian people to be a rich place: rich in salmon and game, rich in below-ground food resources such as tubers and roots—a plentiful land.
In this region, the people would live in permanent village sites and exploit the environs for needed resources.
They had elaborate technologies for very effectively using the resources of the environment, and perceived their lives as being good and rich.Yet, the elders said, at times the world became too predictable and the challenge began to go out of life.
Without challenge, life had no meaning.So the elders, in their wisdom, would decide that the entire village should move, those moves occurring every 25 to 30 years.
The entire population would move to a different part of the Shuswap land and there, they found challenge.There were new streams to figure out, new game trails to learn, new areas where the balsamroot would be plentiful.
Now life would regain its meaning and be worth living. Everyone would feel rejuvenated and healthy. Incidentally, it also allowed exploited resources in one area to recover after years of harvesting."If you wonder about what to do of your money, I guess you are starting to feel like those indians. :)

I agree with you, however, there are many careers that require an actual degree -- doctor, psychiatrist, lawyer, veterinarian, etc etc etc -- and a lot of the education in those fields requires hands-on work, not something you can get out of an online course. And (as my gf is observing, as she is getting her MA in psychology) education is not cheap. So I stand by my point that the best thing you can spend money on is education. Also, you're point is incorrect, as, for example, udacity charges a nice little sum for its courses, so I'm not actually sure what point you're trying to make! Marc Marc
