Tie – To fasten a mooring line presumably to dock a ship. Dyed – Changed color Tie-Dyed Do hyphens count? (I guessed this because I had a tie dye Stratocaster[^])

It was broke, so I fixed it.

Painter perhaps? It's a line used to tie up or tow a dinghy with, or a person that paints and in doing so changes the colours of what he/she is painting on. Cheers!

osculor - Latin for kiss or embrace, something that all sailors do to each other this the nautical line, and an anagram (changes) of colours.

I had been looking down Wikipedia's glossary of nautical terms but I got bored in the Ls and gave up. Just checked, I'd have got there in the end if I wasn't such a quitter.
