    Really, who cares. Sorry, but IT doesn't engender this kind of idolatry in me. Its a job, it pays well.

Don't be surprised when you hear this quoted during your next job interview.

The language is JavaScript. that of Mordor, which I will not utter here
This is Javascript. If you put big wheels and a racing stripe on a golf cart, it's still a fucking golf cart.

I'd say Google is special. Say what you like about the company, life without the search engine would be a major step backwards. The only reason MS developed Bing was because Google was so good, so useful - and that's why Bing is still underused. You don't have to be a lazy student to use it, to appreciate it: I use it a lot. Like it or not, the world needs a search engine - even if only to find what you need in MSDN because the MS search is so poor. I use it, because it works and because I remember exactly what it was like trying to find out what a function was called using paper manuals in the days before it existed!

Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

What Archie? Never used it! But they were all a bit... Um... Rubbish, until Google came along, which is why so many people I knew used Metasearch engines like Mamma instead.

"In the world of computer programming, 17 is widely considered the least random number." Really? Why? (I'm too lazy to Google it) And 4 is the most random.[^]

You don't have to slavishly admire an IT company to be a good engineer.

I have had some bosses who wanted to have no less than your soul. Indeed, thw worse the stuff they produced was, the more they demanded you to be 'excited' and 'dedicated' to their bugware. It has become an important indicator for me during interviews. I want a job, not marry them.

I don't have a problem with company loyalty, and enthusiasm for the product, but in this case, its saying happy birthday to just some other big IT company. Smacks of idolatry to me!
