Guys How do you bathe? There are various ways in which you mcan do this :- (1) Take a shower (this is a universal technique used by westerners, easterners and aussies) (2) Take a proper bath in a tub (not so common in India [except in hindi movies where they want to show the lead girl semi-clothed] - but common in the Europe I guess) (3) Bucket, mug method - This is a south indian method not very well known in other areas. You fill a bucket with water and use a mug to pour it on yourself (4) Pond dip - this is again a south indian method where people just take a few dozen dips in a pond (also perhaps used by mid-area-indians) Regards, Nish

    (1) and (3). I also use a modified version of (1), where I use the tap instead of the shower[equipment] mostly to save time :) Smitha The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. --Eleanor Roosevelt

Nick Parker wrote: where did this question spawn from? Lauren said in a post below :- "i feel naked if i dont have mine with me shopping trips and showers excluded" That got me thinking how most westerners mean a shower when they say bath and I got thinking how most other cultures neither shower or bathe (in a tub) and have other means of cleaning themselves... Nish p.s. There are prolly other techniques that I might have missed out...

Of course 1) is how I take my bath usually, but I have done all of them on a number of occasions, except the pond one. I can't swim. 3) and 4) are also common in north India, not just south. :) You forgot, 5) Go into the bathroom and come out with your hair wet and face washed, so people think you have actually taken a bath. This too, I have done several times. ;)

When someone says "bath", I immediately think of some long "I'm gonna soak and relax" thing. To me a shower is much faster. There's no reason to draw the water for a bath just to get in and get out...if I'm gonna go through that much prep work, then I'm gonna expect a long time to enjoy it. Shower is just on, in, off, out with a little shampoo and soap in between. :)

With a bath, you have to fill up the tub with water first. It also seems to take longer to wash myself, but that is probably due to the infrequency with which I actually take a bath. When I take a bath, it is usually to relax because of sore muscles. Hence, I associate long times with sitting in a tub full of water. With a shower, I can turn on the water, step in, wash myself, and be out in a matter of minutes - usually less than 5.
