Is there a way to still buy Visual Studio 2015 licenses
-
Today I wanted to buy two Visual Studio 2015 Professional licenses. After searching the web and trying a lot of links that all led me to 2017 subscriptions only, I contacted the MS support. The answer was short, simple and straight -> You cant buy 2015 licenses anymore since the 2017 version is released. So I just wanted to ask the community if there is really no way to buy licenses for the 2015 version of Visual Studio? I mean, I just want to buy two licenses online and that's it. I don't want to be forced to switch to a new version, just because its out?

Why do you think you need the "Pro" version? The 2015 community edition is still available: [Download Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2015 from Official Microsoft Download Center](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48146)

Thanks Gerry, you pointed me to the solution. I was not aware about the license details -> This edition of Visual Studio is available for free for individual developers, open source development, academic research, education and small professional team As far as i understand I would have never had to buy the professional version for my 4 developers since they launched the Community edition, that's interesting.

You're welcome! The licensing used to be more restrictive; but keeps getting more relaxed; you have to keep checking back. (IMO) They're acknowledging that ("little") developers can create paying customers in this era of "micro services" (and Azure).
