I think anything that shakes up the funeral industry is a good thing. I really hate to see people being pressured into buying elaborate, expensive and environmentally wasteful boxes that are going to get set on fire. The whole business of giving people a heap of ash that may or may not contain some remnants of the departed seems utterly bizarre to me.

I agree: my mother asked for a cardboard coffin, so we went with that - looked pretty horrible, if I'm honest - and I was annoyed to find out it was several hundred pounds more than a "traditional wood" box.

Serious Part: "Green" - does anyone care to take into account the pollution caused in the manufacture of the chemicals involved in the alkaline solution? There's energy. There's the by products. Just to start. What you've done in this farcical "green" solution is moved the pollution off to somewhere else where you don't have to think about it. The closest you'll get to a 'green' disposal of a body is burial in plain pine boxes and or only a shroud (naked would be better but, well, you know how people are). This is currently practice by Jews and Muslims. No embalming, either.

No - have left my body to medical science as I do not anticipate that I will need it post my demise, and then it's naked* cremation when they are done**. * No box - not no clothes ** This may change with hospital best practice but is the current procedure.
