SUS = Software Update Services http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/windowsupdate/sus/default.asp Will not handle things like IE or MediaPlayer, but will deal with most other patches for you, and is a bargin at the price (free). Windows OS only, for things like Exchange and SQL Server look at UpdateExpert or Hfnetchk Stephen
Thank You. This could help a lot. John

While windows is waiting for you to choose a filename for a download, it has already started downloading it and then misreports the speed at which it is downloading for a few seconds until it "realizes" its mistake.

The browser handles this transparently, and it reports the speed based on the UNcompressed data. I have often got 14KB/s from a 56k connection continually across a 2-3MB file. Yes, I know... But, as I said, I work mostly in another machine and this one is just for testing and net access. I just kept the IE window in a small corner of the screen and cursed every time I clicked a link in an e-mail and IE warned me that I was going away form the update and he was going to cancel the download if I insisted in going to other page. (It's been a day of select-link, copy-link, open another IE, paste-link :( )

This forces it to open shortcuts in a new window. Ryan Being little and getting pushed around by big guys all my life I guess I compensate by pushing electrons and holes around.
