I've inherited a Visual Basic project. :sigh: Last time I saw VB was back in the early 90s. It took me a few minutes poking around before I figured out how to find the dang source code.

So is brainfuck, but I would not want a project in that language.

Have you started the rewrite yet?

VB.NET, or VB6? The first is easy to translate to C#, can even be done by a machine. If it is VB6, it should simply be burned, without any questions.

Now, now! Not all VB code is written by three year olds. VB's just designed so that it looks like it is.

Indeed. I've seen children as old as 7 continue playing with VB, like they're an infant! I told the kid to grow up and use F# or something.

Ahhh, the 'no money for the rewrite' took me weeks, ended up doing a C# version at the weekend for my own benefit. The people in charge needed to use it, so I gave them my C# version while I was working on the VB version, the exe ran faster and was smaller I was asked why I still converting the VB... :wtf:

I have a feeling we may see some new posts at the Weird and Wonderful forum...which imho should be renamed WTE! as that's more in line with the content. :) So, at least you got the VB6 IDE to work. Hopefully you aren't stuck with a bunch of third-party dependencies. Good luck! :)

VB6 wasn't a bad tool. I could do pretty much anything I needed to with it, there was a lot of business apps as well as things like assemblers, game emulators and useful utilities written in VB6. I'm sure at one point I saw a VB6 first edition of UnrealEd floating around. VB.NET on the other hand, well, you may as well use C#, I find converting VB6 across to C# quite therapeutic, I don't think I'm a sadist...
