The Brits are the reason the country you are living in is called India, and not Vijaynagar for example, and I'm in India too, and not in "Bong" for example, and so on. They are the reason why we are both from the same country. They are the reason why we have trains, post office, a modern education system that kicks ass, and can speak English, for example. The reason why so many Indians get so many jobs overseas is that we can speak English well. I could go on and on, but I think I've made my point. :) Vikram Punathambekar wrote: You know Kant is from my country, don't you? Kant is a member since way back, and is well known here I think. :)

I feel almost the same way you do, except that I feel we are relatively better off. The argument (not between you and me- I feel we're on the same side, but between the Brit haters and the Brit lovers) could go on, but of what use? I just try to think of the positive side and leave it at that, though I know that they have done a lot of harm as well. I mean, what's the point in thinking of your "ill-luck" when you've been blessed with other good things? Does this last statement have anything to do with the original thread? Regards,

I agree completely, except that the only harm was the division between India and Pakistan, and between Hindus and Muslims. Other than that, there wasn't any long term effect, so I guess it's OK since it's been such a long time. We can't hold a grudge for all eternity, can we? :) Besides, the positive effects far outweigh anything else.
