Escalation and more ad-homimen. And more false claims. Keep it up. You're living down to the low example you've been showing for years.

Keep on whining. You are very good at it and I like collecting all the cups of whine from you! ;P

an article supporting your position/statement:JAMA Forum: Hospitals Don’t Shift Costs From Medicare or Medicaid to Private Insurers – news@JAMA[^] an up in the air still debating supporting docs: How Much Do Hospitals Cost Shift? A Review of the Evidence[^] article debunking hospitals that use the cost shift argument as inaccurate https://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/24/upshot/why-hospitals-are-wrong-about-shifting-costs-to-private-insurers.html[^] as it currently stands, you are looking like you are correct with the cost shift because of medicare/medicaid. Still doesn't debunk high salaries and expensive medical supplies, etc AND insurance companies just being greedy. Politics and $$$, they both go together in the end.

I haven't been attempting to debunk high costs in the US healthcare system. I know they are. The point I disagree with you is your statement that UHC cannot work in the US.

[Note: Less than a week left to discuss this.] There's the Left Wing; there's the Right Wing... that seems to be about it in the US. In Britain and Europe there's a lot of people in between, more central in their politics. We need to create a Demoblican Party for those of us who do not espouse extreme positions. We also need a better name for it; "Repucrat" just doesn't work either. Any suggestions? Who would join such a party?

              - I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.

That's pretty much how the democrat party started. The democrats have become extremists though, and the only centrist party (or non-extreme at least) is actually the republicans who remain fairly centre-right.

UHC cannot work when costs are still too high. That is my argument; not that UHC in and of itself won't work. You have to lower wages and the cost of medical equipment, supplies, hospital stays, etc. for UHC to have a chance. UHC will never work in this country because those things that I have listed will never change. Again, that is my argument. 7 Reasons Why Universal Healthcare Won’t Work in the US[^]

That does seem like basic economics, doesn't it. Not sure why some people can't see that. :^)

Actually - if you think about it - most people would consider themselves a "moderate" as compared to an "extremest". Probably related to why everyone (it seems) is so sure they are right correct. Wherever you stand, you can look to the left; you can look to the right; you will always find someone there.

I've been told by a brainwashed, all-in Democrat (whom I've known for decades) that there are no such thing as moderates: only Democrats and Nazis. I find this ironic from a party that is currently publicly espousing socialism, fascism, and defense of Antisemitism. I live in the bible belt, and "democrat" is basically an insult down here. I'm not sure that most people do consider themselves moderates. We're being crapped on as a group, lately, because the tribals have developed an intense hatred of the "other".

Hatred of "other" was (and remains) the driving force behind Humps campaign. It's a aged tried and true technique. Probably works on humans at an instinctual level (genetically) and egotistical level (my failures are THERE fault). Bible belt - hypocrisy land. They want to force woman to have babies and then deny them medical care. Be born, and after that, we don't care if you suffer and die. Also, they want taxes cut - well how about adopting those unwanted babies so they have a home instead of keeping them on welfare? Cutting every social welfare program (except the Federal money pouring int their states taken from Northern states) Hmmmmmm. Democrats stink from hypocrisy in their own way: those four bitches, for example - maybe they should protest the amputation little girl's clitoris' in their love home countries (and countries they love to support). And honor killings. And when Pelosi finally started to condemn them, she was (in my opinion) played by the Hump. He made his 'go back where you came from' statement and the Dem's circled their wagons around the bitches. Interestingly, in his own way, Humps more recent statement about Jews being 'disloyal' (if they don't support him) puts him in the group with them - using old bigotry as his weapon, the same stuff. SO - I will repeat - "A Plague on Both Their Houses"

I'm not disagreeing in principle with any of that, just pointing out that the embrace of extremism is very common.

I disagree. We already have a form of single payer here in Medicare and it does a much better job at controlling costs than the private sector.

You're putting the cart before the horse. If you want to control costs you need to put a system in place to control costs. A system like UHC.
