United States Heads Towards Legalization of Spam
-
problem that most of Europe suffers from with over 90% of all spam hitting Europe being sent by American (mostly Florida-based) spammers. Is it just me or is Florida the cause of anti-Americanism? First they are the cause of boat-loads of old people visiting what is to them the World Theme Park (you know, Europe, Africa, Far East etc.) Second they duff up the election. And now thirdly we find out that when all those old folk are not touring the world they are running spam companies! Can't we put up a fence around Florida? Let the old-folk buses go in and but don't let anyone out.

Paul Watson wrote: Is it just me or is Florida the cause of anti-Americanism? Could be... In the US, Florida and Utah are the source of most financial scams - I've never figured out why - and they've simply moved operations to the Internet. But the majority of the hacking and spamming I see comes from Asia, particularly China and Korea. That's a far greater threat than unwanted emails from Florida.
"Ask not for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee..."and spamming I see comes from Asia Are you basing that on the amount of "garbage" spams you get? The ones that start out with "Me love you long time, 10 dohlar, sucky, sucky, five dohlar" and then have pages of glyphs? But the majority of the hacking They are just disgruntled teenagers frustrated under the iron grip of their governments. Destroying remote networks is their form of expression, like art. Bless their little cotton socks, at least they are not old wrinkled people from Florida! It tolls for thee..." That reminds me, dinner time. :rolleyes:

The sooner you realize that you, as a citizen and not a business, mean nothing to the government, the better off you'll be. To vote with no response is to follow the way of the coward.
Ah. That explains your recent Chris Losinger cc. registration. ;)

The problem is that spam email will (as it already does) severely overload the already struggling internet email system. I think it's time that someone remind the government that email is a communications tool between individuals, and was never intended to be a sales tool. ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends

Mark my words, this is the worst thing to happen in the history of our industry. As soon as the governments start doing this, there will be no end to their desire to control content. The Internet will become the police state that many nations have been trying to create in physical reality for centuries. What did I miss in the article (or not in the article) that makes you say that? Wouldn't allowing spam be the reverse of a step taken toward a police state? John

Paul's been incredibly sarcastic of late Says the man who wants us to all consider the feelings of every single other CPian (even the lurkers*) and in the process turn CP into PC. At least we are getting bitter together Shog9. If I had a porch I would invite you around to shout at kids who came near our front-yard. * yes, you, post something damnit!

I've got the porch, all i need now is the age... and a cane.
