WTF? A popup blocker? There Google goes again and tries to kill the little guys by packaging another feature into their product. It is a monopoly I tell you, A MONOPOLY!!! Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

It's worth upgrading for the popup blocker alone. That's one of the reasons I had started using Mozilla more and more.

Exactly. Now that IE (with Google's help  ) finally has popup-blocking, I can maybe start phasing-out this multi-browser nonsense. Far simpler using one browser for all surfing. Avant Browser[^] already supports these 2 features. Kannan Kalyanaraman wrote: BlogThis: Create a weblog post pointing to the page you are visiting. Hmm..This is something new. BTW, AB supports Google bar..

The popup blocker works wonders. I'm so glad that Microsoft Google has put such a useful feature into the browser. "When a man sits with a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute. But let him sit on a hot stove for a minute and it's longer than any hour. That's relativity." - Albert Einstein

I liked the tabbed browsing in Mozilla too... for about the first 15 minutes. After that I quickly came to the conclusion that it wasn't anything special and very overrated. I think I've used it like once since.

I find XP's program grouping works pretty much as well (or badly) as Mozilla's (or any other browser's) tabbed browsing. And now that popup blocking is available, I find that there's no reason to change browsers. Paul ;) I have been afraid always. Popup blocker might be fine (haven't tested it yet) but there is more to it regarding ads : blocking in-place Flash ads is useful too...

To be honest, i'll tolerate in-place ads, flash or otherwise. Everyone has to pay the bills somehow, and it's their website/their choice (just as it's my choice not to visit again if they get too annoying). Pop-ups are something else, not just affecting the appearance of the page they originate on, but purposefully breaking the desired behavior of the app that is displaying them. This is not tolerable.

I agree, however, I can see the problem with flash adds on dialup Matt Newman Post best viewed with lynx

We have at least two kinds of flash ads : - (I) those that are colorful, but are not disturbing - (II) those that open themselves wide, distrub, last 10 seconds, then fade away I happen to surf at home using a full-blocker (condomite), but I don't use it at work. And I really feel that some recent MS and IBM ads are not tolerable at all. Further to the point, there is no way to opt-out these ads. As such, they are just spam.
