Why? Because he touts VS.NET so much. So I have this project that I'm working on. I've included several Classes that I've written (and use extensively) I have my #include directives in all the right files. So I compile it and its works perfectly. I have a List View - report style on the main window and I want to play around with the column widths. So I re-compile and check (several times). I'm gonna change a column width by 1 pixel, then I'm done. Uh Oh!!!1 OK, So now VS is telling me that it can't compile because some member variables types are not predefined. I'm missing a storage-class. Its from one of my Classes. Uh, the files are still there, the files are included in my project (still) and all of the include directives are still there. I close the project and open one that I know works (Users have had it for about 6 months and no complaints) So It'll compile perfectly. Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK ! OK CHRIS, I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'VE DONE, BUT I WILL SUBMIT. IF I GET A NEW JOB AND GET SOME EXTRA MONEY I'LL BUY VS.NET OFF THE CP STORE. OK? OK? JUST GIVE ME A LITTLE TIME TO GET THE MONEY TOGETHER. Did you figure this out? If you scroll down to the bottom of your error messages, you'll probably see one that says an assembly could not be copied because it is in use. This leads to other error messages that you shouldn't pay attention to. For some reason, VS.NET lists error messages in reverse order. To get around it, you'll probably have to re-start VS.NET. I re-installed VS6.0 and none of my projects will compile. I scanned for viruses and did the normal thing, nothing. The only thing I can think of is re-installing everything :(( :(( ...
What are the errors you are getting? You mentioned something about "storage class", and there are a number of compiler errors that have the text "storage class" in them. Chris Richardson

Terrain SoftwareLast time I checked (about 20 min ago) none of my header files were being linked. Actually VS says that it can't find them. I've even copied some older projects into the local drive. When I open and try to compile, none of those header files can be found either. So it apparently has nothing to do with my typing. I have no clue as to whats wrong EDIT The projects do compile on my laptop though /EDIT ...

It sounds like you had VS .NET installed, and then installed VC6 afterwards. This has probably changed your environment variables (INCLUDE and LIB) so that they point to the VC6 directories, then the .NET directories. You probably want the .NET directories first, since they have the most up-to-date headers and libraries. Good luck.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that VS 6.0 (FIRST AND ONLY FIRST) nothing but .Net afterwards. I think there-in lies your problem. SWAG - Perhaps now if reloaded .Net things would be better. :confused::confused::confused::~ Tip: In the future before doing such things, use XP restore or Symantec Ghost to backup your system. Then if things go bad, you can always hit the eject button and restore everything. :)

delete this;No, Chris has been pushing .NET. I've been using nothing but VS 6.0. My post was to mean that I've given up on 6.0 and, when I get the money together, I will buy VS.NET through CP. I haven't installed any new software recently. If an environment variable changed, then I have no freakin' clue as to why. I have re-installed everything on this box and everybody is happy once again. Note: all my install files are located on a separate drive so everything was installed rather quickly. Also, all of my working files are on another drive, so nothing is lost. I'm just getting sick of all the features in VS 6.0. Good luck. Thanks, apparently it worked. ...
