Here's one of those things that can only happen to you when your day starts out bad and gets steadily worse.... X| (True story BTW). Went out and got some McDonalds for lunch. Brought it back to the office. Wanted salt on the fries. Opened package of salt and placed on desktop computer. Had a flash of inspiration - put fries aside and did some coding. Had a floppy disk half in/half out of the floppy drive. Went to go eat fries. Looked for salt, found it. Didn't get a full grip on it, dropped it onto the floppy disk where it promptly distributed a thousand little salt grains onto and INTO the disk drive. Tried to blow it off (bad idea) disk drive is now full of salt and makes odd noises when spinning. Paid no attention to it, put disk in drive anyways. Accessed drive, heard strange noises - disk surface is scratched. :suss: Disk drive has been adversely affected. CEO will NOT be happy - these are brand new IBM machines. Ug. I can't believe I destroyed a perfectly good floppy drive with McDonald's salt. :rolleyes: This has got to be a first. Has anyone else ruined their work computers or am I alone in my (soon to be) suffering??
Umm, it is a floppy drive. I have a cupboard full of unwanted ones, you can hardly give them away. Maybe the salt packet was trying to tell you something :)
