.NET show plug CP
-
http://msdn.microsoft.com/theshow/episode035/default.asp[^] CP gets a good plug at the end of the "Enter The Programmer" section. For the eagle-eyed Brits watching it, watch the MapPoint demo for an amusing place name... :) Cheers, Barry

Jonathan 'nonny' Newman Homepage [www.nonny.com] [^] Bob Chum Dev site [^]NICK HODAPP: And again, I'll answer on behalf of C++ developers. A good place to start, of course, is MSDN. But from a community standpoint one of the best sites that I like is CodeProject.com, and there's just a wealth of information. It started out as a strictly MFC site, so that's a good place to start because most Visual C++ developers have some MFC experience, and as that community begins to adopt .NET you'll, as a developer, go right along with them, so that's great. CHRIS SELLS: Yeah, CodeProject.com is great. I always go there for: I don't feel like writing it; somebody must have written it already. And I'm almost always pleased with what I get at CodeProject. ROBERT HESS: Just this last week I went and got some code off there for a project I was working on that really helped an awful lot. CHRIS SELLS: Yeah, it's great. ROBERT HESS: Well, thanks for joining us. I appreciate the time. CHRIS SELLS: Thanks for having me. NICK HODAPP: Thanks. We've paid Nick off with  but we're still to finalise the tab for Robert and Chris ;) cheers Chris

Cheers. Nick Hodapp wrote: A good place to start, of course, is MSDN Actually, I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I tend to check out CP before MSDN. I really use MSDN for basic function definitions etc... But to see code in action, CP is always my first reference point. Examples on MSDN are either too generic or too complicated, hardly any decent real-life stuff.

Heh, apart from some of the .NET stuff, MSDN "examples" are either 1) oneliners with example parameters, 2) shared between several topics, 3) separate projects that you have to leave the help reader to view, 4) 1&2, or 5) 2&3 On CP, if you post crap code someone tells you - thus crap code gets improved. :)
