You set it as high as you wish as long as it's above 60hz and there is no noticeable flicker. Ideally, you set it as high as you can, take a look, go one notch down, take a look until you have the sharpest non-faded picture and no flicker....actually, the hell with it, just set it to 75hz and you'll be fine!:-D Of course you don't want to take too much advice from me, I wear glasses / contact lenses and if I didn't I literally could not see more than 6 inches in front of me clearly. Try upping your refresh rate. I used to keep my 15" and then my work 17" at 85. My home 17" I keep at 75 cause the card does not support 85 :-( And my laptop LCD is at 60 but for LCDs 60 is quite good. Nish

Nothing worse than watching the tv without a remote, I have seen a generic remote control from sony which can control most tv's, if your tv is not very old you can try that as an option. Usually I have seen people recommend wearing a anti-glare type of glasses, to me 0.5 seems to be a power you should wear only if you have some vision problems. Meanwhile did you do the computerised test or the general ones, i've been adviced to do it bothways to double check, computerised tests can be sometimes wrong. You have just reminded me for visiting the eye-doctor, its been ages since I did my last check up, in fact I dont remember the last time. The mere thought of imagining me with spectacles makes me feel bad. Regards, Kannan

You would make life difficult for your monitor if you put a higher refresh rate than your monitor can support. I had it at 75 and after shog's post I changed to 85, but didn't see any change. Regards, Kannan

Reminds me of one of my coworkers - he runs his 21" monitor at 1600x1200 or some other ungodly huge resolution, and at 60Hz. Can't tell the difference between 60Hz and greater. Of course, i stand with my face 3ft away from the screen and am completely unable to read the text...

Actually I've been using 17"s for about an year now at home. Now that 19" are more affordable(13k) I think they start around 13k but again the TFT's are tempting too, but I guess it would take some more time for the prices to come down. Its all because of the tax put on by the government, I thought we would get away with all the taxes sometime this year(some kinda agreement we had signed which forces for a zero percent tax in due course), seems like it would take some more time :( Regards, Kannan

Uhm If you were an American you could have afforded a 19" or even a 21" LCD monitor ;-) but of course since you'd be an American and thus prone to watching TV at close quarters and playing video games as a kid you'd be wearing glasses by the time you are 12 :-D Nish

On a serious note, it is impossible to "loose" your sight due to overuse, e.g. watching too much television etc.
