Yep! You can't do all the squares as some roads don't have pubs in them, so you have to choose one as close as is possible. I did the crawl about 10 years ago, at which time Fleet Street did not have a pub or bar in it. I've emigrated up north now, so dunno if once has been opened since. Prison = wormwood scrubs Water works = aaaagggggghhhhhh there was one, can't remember where though! [edit]Using an all day travel card on the tube and busses is obviously the way to go, but don't automatically use them as sometimes a quick stagger round the corner is faster. My mates and I were locals then, so we knew when to walk and when to not. The non-locals that came with us insisted on using public transport all the time. I took them a good 1 hour longer.[/edit]

I tried it once - it requires immense planning (a reccy before hand to find out where the pubs are in relation to the roads that are on the monopoly board), and also knowledge of the tubes. As anyone who has walked around London a bit, it is quite often quicker to walk between tube stops, rather than negotiate the stairs in the tube station, wait for a crappy circle line train, and then negotiate the stairs at the other end. Believe me, when it gets to 5pm, and you've been drinking for 6 hours, and everyone else wants to go home, it can be a nightmare. I think that is where we failed. We also didn't take into account the Eleccy & Water Boards, or the Stations, so we made it easier for ourselves, and it was still very difficult. Infinite money, and a taxi-bike to take you all the streets would make it much more feasible! Another good crawl (and loads simpler) is the Circle Line Pub Crawl. Still fairly heavy on the liver  Tom

Fleet Street and journalists? They've all (well most of them!) moved to the docklands now. Hardly any news papers come from Fleet Street any more.

Thanks for the idea with the Circle Line. I actually did the monopoly route on Saturday. I was wrecked but I can say I held down all 26 drinks which is surprising for a lightweight like me. I don't remember the last few though. Cost around £80 for the day but I did more sight seeing that day than I have done in the my 3 month stay so far. Rick Eastes. http://www.eastes.net
