I've had problems with ATI drivers, and OS portability is a plus when investing in hardware. So I'd recommend nVidia as well. @John: I looked for the fanless just now and must be skimming over it. Mind giving us the model number? I'm going to be building a web-connected media server for my entertainment center, and that card sounds perfect.

I also recommend APC. Every workstation here at work has one, and I got the same model to use for my home setup. It's a Back-UPS ES 725. I've had mine for 2 years, and it's kept my computer up through brown-outs that happen during thunderstorms. For the few black-outs we've had, I had plenty of time to shut everything down (I don't use the PowerChute, etc).

Orientation is the only issue I've had at work, mostly due to my computer being under my desk -- and it is pitch black under there. I was using the hub on my monitor for things like thumb drives, but the hub now causes a BSOD on boot-up, so I have to leave it unplugged. Overall, though, USB 2.0 is just fine for me.
