Thank you - I have searched my entire hard drive in every possible place that there would be an executable file but have not found any. I even checked the AppData folder. Nothing at all. Just a bunch of ClickOnce Application Reference icons. I also tried setting registry info for the associations on startup and it has been unsuccessful. I don't get any errors at all... It just doesn't work. I've also (originally) tried using the File Association dialog that's inside the Publish page where you publish the project and entered ProgID info and icons etc and that approach hasn't worked either. But, funny thing... The custom Icons I used in the File Association dialog in VS are showing up on the files... My app just isn't loading the content of the files that are being double-clicked.

You have to do this yourself by creating a data structure or string that contains all the font characteristics. You then write that alongside your text, and when you read the file back, reinterpret the font details to display the text in the way you want. MVP 2010 - are they mad?

That's often a sign of a read-only file (I've had that myself). If you're using integrated source control, it's possible that it doesn't realise you need to check out the file when you make changes in the designer. If you're not using any kind of source control, then maybe the file has somehow become read-only by some other means. I'm planning on adding a new type of favorites system, but also supporting existing favorites that have been created by other browsers, once that's finished I'll start writing the article. I'd love to see what others have to say about it.
