Hi, Thanks for your ansswers, don't get confused about the singelton pattern. I know that I didn't presented the whole code here that the singleton pattern would make sense and run. It isn't that much about the singleton pattern, just about accessing a static field on a generic class. It seems to me that the big feature I really like about generics is going to make me some troubles accessing a single running instance of class within the application code. Maybe this is just a indicator that the app design isn't that good yet. Thanks any way myMsg.BehindDaKeys = "Chris Richner";

Hi predragzakisevic, Thank you for your code snippet. Maybe it's not working because I'm running against .net 1.1. Maybe they changed the way the errorprovider works in .net 2.0. If I try to set the errorprovider.datasource which an object that not implement IList I get an exception. As far as I can see your code doesn't implement IList. Yep, but I guess the problem is that in case of the string hashtable key not the Hashkey.Equals() method is called. Instead it calls the string "keyName".Equals(hashKeyInstance) which returns false. So in case of asking the value with the string key, it works the other way round with calling Equals(). Is this correct? Thank you very much for your efforts. myMsg.BehindDaKeys = "Jerry Maguire";

That won't work because the index is a numeric and you are passing it in as a string. (The code is looking for a column named [0], not at index Zero.
