In the UK the cycling nemesis du jour is the Audi AKA, "The Four Ring Circus". Audis seem to attract a particularly stupid and careless class* of driver that might previously have driven a Beemer. *Yes, there are sensible and careful Audi drivers, but they do seem to be a _very_ small minority.

I've been using Andale Mono for quite a while now, 10 years mebbe. Never liked Consolas and switch to Courier if Andale isn't available.

  • How did you get involved in programming?
    C cigwork

School, mid 1970s. A couple of maths teachers (Rick Dunsby & Brian Thomas) ran a computing "club". We started with, IIRC, Casio FX-201P programmable calculators and then they got hold of one of these..... MONROBOT-XI[^] Picture[^] Ours had only the one TTY and (paper) tape reader/punch. Integer arithmetic only, no divide or multiplication operators, hand assembly of mnemonics to op codes and no editing of entered code. Make a balls-up part way through typing a routine in and you had to re-enter it all from scratch. Mind you it was only marginally slower to boot (10 or 15 minutes) than a Windoze PC and most of that time was waiting for the drum to get up to speed. Unfortunately Mr. Dunsby then went on to build a micro based on the 6800 which ran (a) Kansas City Basic and it was all downhill from there. :)

  • Allow attachments/upload of code fragments/screen dumps for questions.
    C cigwork

Not vital, but it would make it a little easier to deal with some questions if the recalcitrant code (and supporting screen dumps) could be attached in a manner similar to that used for articles especially where the questioner has a lot of code that is causing him or her problems. Either that or restrict the length of text allowed to a question in the hope that it will force the questioner to focus as tightly as possible on the problem.

  • Need Suggestions for a good keyboard for ONE HANDED use
    C cigwork

I know you don't want to but I think you are probably going to have to bite the bullet and go for specialist keyboard. Have a look at http://www.maltron.com their single hand keyboards are USB native. Don't know about programmable keys. I've been using one of their two handed 3D keyboards day in day out for about 16 years so I know robustness is not an issue. Nor do I slow down appreciably (except to ease the damned RSI) if I have to use a standard QWERTY board despite the fact that I use Maltron's own key layout on my Maltron board. I found it fairly easy to get used to using the layout. It only took a couple of weeks for an hour or so each evening - standard touch typing exercises, having learnt to touch type on a QWERTY board may have made the swap easier. If you're unsure then you might want to rent (I assume they still do this) a keyboard for a week or two to experiment. Hope you find a good solution. chr$ Lurk
