Make sure you can award the prize everywhere in the world. "US and Canada only" isn't "international". If you can't export to some countries for one reason or another, consider a "consolation prize" that's twice as big and thrice as cool as you think a robot would be.
I would like to second this. As a South African we often get "offers" via email which we cannot take up because they are only available to US and Canadian residents. I understand that as far as Americans are concerned , that IS the whole world, but it would be nice to win a cool robot prize. I might actually get down and write an article if I could win a Bioloid Comprehensive Kit! ;P
Colours are vastly improved when viewed through my 23" LCD. Real world, hah! Who needs it?
Seriously, the only way anyone can identify this is with a pic, no matter how badly taken! Upload one somewhere, and we will help you. I have 10 years experience as a conservationist in the field, and the number of calls like this I have had over the years are many. This is the same answer I give all of them. There is no way to accurately ID the (snake/spider/bird/mammal/frog) (delete which is applicable) without some sort of picture.

since it is now illegal to ask somebody their age in the UK they they may ask you to 'volunteer' the information. Now I get asked how long I've been in IT
8 years in the South African Defence Force, 8 years in Nature Conservation, 10 years in IT and I'mm 44. That question is getting them nowhere with me! Seriusly though, as a contractor, what difference does your health make to the company?

We'll see you Aussies later on the field! Prepare for a good old South African drubbing!

I assume you mean personal projects FOR MONEY? I think everyone does some fooling around in code at home. If you mean for personal gain, yes, I used to do that up until a month or so ago. But as my workload increased I found less time to do private jobs, and the last job I did really interfered with my daily work schedule, as I had a (private) client demanding his application, and some serious work deadlines looming. It was a very tough couple of weeks, and I won't be doing that again.

If you consider the dog as a 5 or 6 year old child and the cat as a teenager, it all makes sense. The dog will always try to show you it loves you, but will listen when you tell it to stop. Cats will ignore you until they want something or you are actively ignoring them! My cats ignore me until my fingers hit the keyboard, and then the war starts. Cats know how to (ahem) push your buttons. ;) Dogs have NO self respect. I prefer cats.

Ain't that the truth... :^)

Aah! DP. Now that IS magic!
Greetings from sunny South Africa!
Illusionists APPEAR to do magic through prestidigitation and sleight of hand. We are actually creating something from nothing using only words. We are the real deal, magicians. IMHO anyway!

Like I said, I refuse to be drawn! /Nods vigorously..

So heres the thing, I am a developer with more than 10 years experience and I spend a lot of time wacthing and reading fantasy stuff (talk about stereotyping! :-D). It occured to me this weekend, that in many fantasy books, magic is all about learning a language, and using that language to make something out of nothing. So, in a given situation, I would choose specific words and use those to fix whatever problem I may currently have, for instance an attack by wargs, healing a fellow traveler or, and here's the thing, calculating the current VAT total of a bunch of invoices! Good grief, we are magicians! Now we only need to decide which languages are white magic and which are black magic. And I refuse to be drawn on that subject! Greetings from sunny South Africa!
