Settings

To customize your Forum preferences:

1. Click on your avatar in the top right corner of the Forum;
2. Select Settings from the menu.

You can edit the following settings:

• Forum homepage;
• Privacy
  Show or hide your name,
  Allow messages from everyone or only users you follow;
• Browsing Settings
  Decide, how to open outgoing links,
  Enable/disable in-topic search,
  Enable/disable showing the new post after replying;
• Pagination
  Choose between infinite scroll or topic and post pagination
  In case you’ve chosen paginating topics and posts, decide how many should be shown per page.
• Emails
  Subscribe to email updates for the Forum (new notifications and topics) according to a set schedule;
• Language
  Change the language of the Forum interface;
  Watching topics
• Enable automatic watching of topics you create and reply to,
  Change the default category watch state;
• Notifications
  Choose what kind of notifications you want to receive (e.g. when someone upvotes your post or mentions you in their post)
  And how you want to receive the notification (e.g. just a forum notification or an email notification)

Remember to Save any changes you make.

Flag a post for moderation

To flag posts that break our Code of Conduct:

1. Click on the post menu on the right side of the post;
2. Select Flag This Post for Moderation;
3. Pick a category: Spam, Offensive or leave a short comment, why you think the post is inappropriate for the forum.
4. Click Submit Report.
   
   Forum admins and moderators will review the flag and decide what to do next.

Moderation

The CodeProject Forum is moderated by Community Managers and Moderators (volunteers). They can move your topics if there’s a better category for them and they may also edit your post to clarify a point and/or remove parts that are not in line with our Community Guidelines and Terms of Use.

Community Managers and Moderators also have the right to delete inappropriate and duplicate posts, as well as, ban users either temporarily or permanently, who have broken the aforementioned rules and guidelines.

In case you have any questions or complaints regarding moderation, please contact one of the Community Managers in a private message on the Forum.

Start a new discussion

Before you start a new thread, search the forum to see if there already is a discussion about the same topic. If there isn’t:

1. Make sure you’re logged in to your CodeProject Account;
2. Click on New Topic in one of the forum categories above the list of topics.
3. If you don’t see the New Topic button, you’re not allowed to post in that category (for example, Announcements);
4. Make sure the category you’re going to post in is fitting for the topic. Click on the drop-down menu in the top left corner to change the category;
5. Enter a short and clear title;
6. Write the content of the message;
7. Select tags, if available for the category.
8. Click Submit to publish the topic.

Forum Profile
To view your account’s profile, click on the avatar (username’s first letter if you haven’t uploaded an image) in the top right corner of the forum and select your username. You can change your online status and access other pages from the same menu.

On your profile, you’ll see various information about your account. To access some of it, click on the circular button on the edge of the profile cover image to open the menu (see image below).

To change your profile’s cover image, hover over the image and click on the leftmost button to upload a new image, middle button to reposition the current image and on the right to remove the image.

To view and change your account information (e.g. login password, avatar), open the account menu from your avatar and select Profile.
