In the ASP.NET 1.x, you use the TemplateColumn instead. To populate the value of the column based on multiple columns, you can use the data binding expression. Another option is that you can populate the value from other columns in the event handler of the ItemDataBound event or you can do that using the datasource.

One way would be to hook an event handler to Application.Idle in the handler you have for Form.Load. The Idle event will be raised right after the Form is actually visible to the user. Remember to unhook your handler for Application.Idle in your handler for it. You could also use BeginInvoke, which basically uses WM_POST to acheive a delayed call. So at the end of your Form.Load handler, you could do something like "BeginInvoke(new EventHandler(MyFunction));"

Calling Application.Exit sends the WM_QUIT message to the application, this the pump catches and the WM_CLOSE event is not (typically) called, so OnClosing is not executed. That much you've discovered. When handling the WM_QUERYENDSESSION notification message, though, you should set Message.Result = new IntPtr(1); in order to essentially return TRUE as the return value so that the shutdown process isn't canceled. By not setting this value, FALSE is essentially returned and the shutdown process is cancelled as you have noticed. If this is an instance of a control, you shouldn't access it from a static. Just have an public instance property that returns the control from the instance of that class. It would be much better, though, if you only expose what you need from that class. This is known as data-hiding - you don't want to expose too much information or allow unverified code to change the behavior of your class. Actually, you don't even need to parse a command line to start your app in a minimized state. just don't hard-code the Form.WindowState property and in the shortcut properties for your application, set the Run: setting to Minimized.
