In my research the other day I saw legal arguments off aTexas AG website from 2002 where they were arguing that you should not have the word “engineer” on a business card unless you were a PE. I did not track down if there was any final ruling on the matter, it seemed more like a brief. I guess if you are debugging, you can call yourself a “software surgeon”, “Don’t bother me now, I have a patient on the table.” 😊
