Well honestly its still a pain in the butt programming in JAVA, but i hope there would be better improvements in the language ,and i totally hate the braces{} most of the code needs intergerPhase(not sure this is the correct syntax) but still i have to go along with it and use it. I prefer VB its easier to debug. Like this simple code dim c as integer c=textbox1.text-textbox2.text MsgBox(c) no semicolon i F!@#$ hate that semicolon(ok i'm calm) If i were to replicate this code in java holy c!@#$ i have to link the GUI ID to the textbox that i wish to subtract and put it in the intergerphase(). These long winded things are wht make JAVA for me less favorable. (example)If my boss asked me to program in JAVA for apps these winding codes are very annoying,i would still have to do the job even if i'm not comfortable with it. If only i could improve them or make a better programming language then JAVA. The GUI's(button,listbox,etc...) in java are ugly, is this by default like that or can it be improved. About the UNIX in what way is it good for business is it possible to have a GUI UNIX OS.

Why is JAVA important -
Why is JAVA importantever since i was exposed to computer when i was young i've been facinated by them, the way they work, the things inside them that make them tick, truly amazing. This unix thing is interesting could u elaborate more about them. What good do they provide, u stated that unix runs on certain hardware, does it run on the Intel Microprocessor. Does the UNIX OS have GUI interface like windows. U stated that VM cant be written. Do u know how to make a VM. Actually the MAC lepored(latest OS) is like a cool toy to play with, it doesnt even have virus protection. Is it possible for me as an individual to create my own compiler And i found out how Mac air's(since we're chating about Apple i thought i'd talk about the MAc Air) intel chip was reduced in size by 20%(they removed some components) Thanks for ur replies,ur very knowledgable

Why is JAVA importantDid u mean correct english by the "u,wht". I know windows is not the only OS out there i even researched on the history of OS(its pretty long). But lets start from the GUI OS time line ,made by a group from Xerox. which was later copied(oops) by Apple then by Microsoft. The current OS runs on the x86 architecture powered by intel chips. ------------------------------------- Then these OS giant have to allow the JAVA to run on their OS systems(something sinister going on). Then strange enough Microsoft Office(isnt that a Windows program) can run on the MAC which was announced a few years back. ----------------------------------- Actually i've heard very little about unix(Linux an ofspring of UNIX) used in enterprise applications could u enlighten me about it like what sort of applications are used. --------------------------------- Even though there are alot of OS's out there Windows is the dominant and ya its true many ppl dun even know that there exist other different types OS's. --------------------------------------- I know JAVA runs on a virtual machine which i have no idea how to create(do u know how?). I got really p i ssed off when i started using the J2SE(not sure thats the right one)IDE it was so annoying to use, debugging was even worst it was like a jungle, and to make matters worse the GUI codes made it even more difficult to debug(the reason for my frustration towards JAVA). Only recently i started using easy eclipse(which i later found by accident), excellent user interface. --------------------------------------------- And i know why windows is so dominant over MAC because of GAMES we teens love playing cool games(most of these game cannot even run on MAC) and which OS platform provides it, Windows. Whoa i think i'm getting cared away by talking about OS ---------------------------------------------

Why is JAVA importantHi guys sry this isnt a programming question. I've always been wondering why JAVA is so important the development takes ages and the coding is difficult. I still dun get wht object oriented programming is. I dun want u guys to think i'm being bias against JAVA but why is this Language still Alive. Wht are the good points of using it. And the Big question is it better to develop Applications in Visual studio or Java. Does the google website run on java? I'm a noob programmer seeking advice from u pro programmers. Thank You

software licensingSry man but i dun get it ,now ur confusing me. What do u mean by external components. Also i want to know how a there programs that are cross platform what IDE do they use to make them. Do u know how to package a program to .exe Thanks

software licensingHi guys i'm not sure if this is surpose to be the subject title. I'm sorry as this is not a programming question. But i have to ask. Do i have to pay MICROSOFT for software developed using visual studio 2008 ,and how do i sell them to end users(inspired by flash & 3d studio Max). How and why should I license the software developed in visual studio is there anything else i have to do besides licensing. I searched for these answers through the web till i got an unbearable headache(it hurts).

A visonwow ur knowledge about this stuff amazes me. I want to create a device like PSP with my own graphics i have no idea where to get the components. I know it uses the MIPS microprocessor with ATi/nivida GPU(not sure which one). Is it possible for an individual to make their own GPU card.

a cool ideaYawn Yawn Zzzzzzzz..... Oh, by the way. No one appreciates the dumb assed text speak you're using. It just makes you look stupid.

a cool idea1st i dun plan on making money its for my own interest 2nd If u knew how to do it u wouldnt be posting in this forum cos u could be in ur private boat partying 3rd i hate it when graphic companies make small tweaks and give their graphics card fancy names and pictures 4th Because of this closed secretive process, better graphical wonders are not possible to attain

a cool ideaWhy do u keep crticising this idea although i dun care. Christian Graus wrote: Sorry, but what you're suggesting is impractical, and ludicrious. So what if its impractical, and ludicrious. u have no proof that it cant be done. The computer system is an example

a cool ideaWell it says graphics i tried the harware forum but no one replied. Well if such a portable graphics card was made computer manufactures can make a special USB port for this kind of thing Well some awesome ps2,xbox360,wii games cant run on a PC if ppl are prepared to pay a few hundred $$ for these machines i bet they will want this portable grahics card. And about speed did u know the PSP's Microprocessor runs at 333Mhz and yet its able to play those high end games.Xbox360 runs on a P3 processor. These usb powered games will be far cheaper and p i s s nvidia and Ati off cause they cant cheat us by placing less math formulas in the piplines

a cool ideaSo u mean its possible to make now how do u do that.

a cool ideaI had this incredible idea and i dun know how to implemnt it. I want to create an external graphics card(i have no idea how to make 1) attached via USB port which can run games(not the current released versions but games made for this graphics card) ppl with sh***y graphics card would not have to waste money on new cards. Although they will not be able to play new games made to run on Nvidia/Ati graphics card. The biggest problem i'm facing now is how to display all these 3d calculations of images or models onto the desktop.

usb programmingThanks Matthew, that link u provided was very useful,do u know of any links which have example circuits using the PIC184550(are there any new versions )with the C code. I plan to use the PIC184550 chip(i think its the latest).

usb programmingThanks guys ur knowledge of this stuff is very useful. Well i done know anything about drivers, but i want my device to be usable when plucked into different computers USB port. Is that done with driver which part of the circuit would stores this information. Example like a USB keyboard u plug and play one part of the circuit or microcontroller stores this infromation(its the driver right). I'm assuming these from a logical point of view. I am sry if my driver questions are annoying, but i find it interesting. Which PIC would u recommend i use the PIC18 series or PIC16. theres also this red disc shaped thing(complier) do they share the same USB connection or different.

usb programmingI've read about microcontrollers(i'm only familiar with PIC series and i'm not good at programming it) with USB engine(not certain) or USB support do u know of any such PIC's And whts a driver

usb programmingwhich multiplexing IC chip would u recommend I'm using ADC0804LCN. Theres also one more hurdle the VB program how to i program the code to receive data from the USB. Wow i didn know about the D+ D- function. I only know data travels through it

usb programmingthanks guys i feel that i'm getting close to solving this problem, i made this device on my own. It's a simple circuit which i wish to test. Using an ACD converter chip i intent to see the binary conversion in my VB program this information is transmitted via USB this way i dont have to use a microcontroller(c programming is troublesome). The binary conversion output pins are 8. Hmm i was so focused on using the USB port that i didnt look at how to send the 8 pins data through USB cable which has 4 pins (V+ D+ D- gnd).I bet theres someone out there who knows how to to it. IN future USB interfaced devices will be the standard thats y i'm doing it this way.

usb programmingHi guys, need ur help i have a circuit(ADC to BINARY) which i wish to communicate via USB port to a VB program to read data from( Example like a USB mouse which gives input and the cursor moves) I did some research and found out about virtual com ports which fools the program into thinking that the usb port is a com port but i'm not sure how to create one, do i need to do it this way or is there another way in which i could directly send data(binary) to the VB program
