Not sure if this will apply to you, but I've had to do SP development on my mac for several projects now. System specs: 1) using Sharepoint 2010 for development installed on a virtual running Windows 7 2) RAM allocation 4GB. Minimum required 2GB (I believe) recommened at least 4GB. 3) Virtual VMWareFusion (nothing special).
