I don't know what to say, this WC has been turned on its head. Top teams crash out and down and out for the count teams are in the final!! I think that after last night performnce Engalnd is probably the best rugby team in the competition by sheer passion and belief. If, and this is a big IF, the Boks can beat the Pumas, they will have the toughest game of their lives against the English in next weeks final. It will be tougher than the 95 WC final against that other team in black, what are they called again... I still hope the Boks do it and take the final convincingly and show that the team to be crowned the World Champions should be the able to win all their games against any team. Go Bokke!!

I don't knwo much about the ins and outs of C++ vs C# as I am still trying to get to grips with the latter. So can't help your case there, but I think somebody will. As for the Stainless Steel issue: yep it can "rust" or more accurately oxidation of the Iron component does take place in the pressence of oxygen. Oxygen is pressent everywhere and more likely the contact will be with water of some type. I worked as a chemist at a power station and we had all kinds of water - very salty to ultra pure water and we used stainless steel where we had contact with the ultra pure water specifically because ultra pure water is rather acidic and it will corode metals faster than normal tap or river water. If there was a weak spot in the bonds between the Fe-C-Cr mix, this will be exploited and the Iron will start to oxidise and you will get corrosion or "rust": it is called localised corrosion. (You can get the exact reaction on google or any chemistry textbook.) But this is an extremely slow process and it wont be as notacible as with a pure Iron metal as the Chromium/Carbon mix tries to inhibit this reaction. It can be sped up if there are enhanced conditions at the surface such as when there is a bit of microbiological growth (slimey layer) forming at the weakend spot. The bacteria growing there excrete acids as a byproduct and this will tend to speed of the localised corrosion. You will see this as a blackend crystal like growth if you scrape the slimey film away. If you let them grow they will "eat" through a 3 mm thick normal Ferrous metal plate in about a year, probably longer with Stainless. This might seem long but in an industrial setting it is very quick and normally very costly with down time and repairs. If anybody is still awake after that I thank you and good night

Big call when half of the players in the Northern Hemisphere competitions are from the Southern Hemisphere - NZ, Australia, Fiji, Samoa ... The Fanatical All Black Supporter - Kea Kaha
and dont forget the Boks and soon to be ex-Boks flying North for the winter in 2008  I think that is exactly the reason why Northern Hemisphere rugby is not up to par with the South: we keep your rugtby going and when we retract ourselves for the international meetings you have nobody to left to fill a training squad. (Now don't go puting quotas in place...we make good money from you lot:-O) My two cents: NZ lost that game against France not because of a referee's bad decision (the forward pass to Michalack) but because they changed their game plan to short stockey running (the 30 odd phases of pick and drive - bang your head against a wall one more time and hope it wont hurt this time ) instead the fluent fast paced, quick to the breakdown, quick ball to explosive backline, creativity that everybody feared and which had won them many a game against the same French team. Why they changed is the enigma - coach, captain or both? But the facts are that NZ will have to accept there early exit from the WC and live to fight another day. Contrary to popular believe Southern Hemisphere rugby does not solely consist of the AB or the Ausies - just look at the line up for next weekend. So to say Southern Hemisphere rugby is dead is so far from the truth as the chances of England to win against France in Paris with thousands of fanatical Frenchman singing La Marseillaise. See you in the final Frenchies Go Bokke

Well well well, the mighty AB's fall again.... How black is your day ? Only Argentina and South AFrica still in it for the Southern Hemisphere. I guess we will not meet you again in the final this time around.:-> Go Springboks

Yea, I think England can take something out of that game:rolleyes: for there next meeting with the boys from Down Under. We shall meet you again in the final for some laughs and a couple pints of ....blood.:suss: You do remember the last time we met...?:-> Go Bokke

Paul, I am born and bred a "Boertjie". I dont know what was misleading: you should know that South Africans are the worst(best) at dishing out ctiticism after a poor performance of our national team. My reason for saying that the Boks second stringers were arrogant was that they assumed because Jake White send them in to take "care of" Tonga that they would have an easy time of it. They were probably right in thinking that Tonga would be a walk over, on any other day perhaps, but in a World Cup anything can happen i.e France v Argentina (previous World Cups have there own uspets to look at). They (the second team) are a very good set of players and can probably beat any of the teams in the competition as it stands now: they, and for that matter anny team there, must just have the will and tenacity to go and do it. The second team lacked that for about 40-50 mintues and then Jake had to bring in the cavalry (I know its not 50%) to give them a bit of spark and force them to get stuck in..it ledd to three brilliant tries almost at will!! Today matchup of Sctoland against New Zealand (a clash of simmilar colooured jerseys by the way...what was that) showed that the All Blacks can be beaten: by fighting fire with fire. The Scots were in their faces the whoel of the second half and although they did not score a single point thet kep the Blacks from scorring for a frustratingly long time...and it showed as they made some basic errors in trying to force the game in certain areas. I think that France will give the All Blacks a go in the 1/4 and that South AFrica will meet them again the Finals for a 1995 repeat showdown (how is that for a prediction);P Bokke - ons sal hulle wys

After Englands performance yesterday, I think they have that winning feeling back and will best Tonga next Friday. But unfortunately that is as far as they will go. They will play an Australian team that are still rising in performance and they will obbliterate England in the quarters. An unfortunately France is also going to be swept asside by New Zealand.....but New Zealand have not a great past in world cups so who knows :-D I would like nothing better Go Boks
Francois Benadie
That was a very arrogant performance(maybe not performance but display) from a Bok side today. The second stringers were sent in to do a decent job against a non rated rugby side like Tonga and they dissapointent such that White had to trough almost half the team of the field and replace them with players who want to play.:~ The second stringers should hang there heads in shame :omg:for not playing rugby and expecting that any team will just had them the points because they are the wearing the mighty Springboks jersey!! Lucky to have won and thanks to Tonga for giving them a right kick up the backside Almost through the TV out the window:mad:

what I really had in mind was to have students and the odd experienced C# programmer get together in London or surround for regular "study groups", say once a month or more regular? I am busy with a home study for MCAD in C#, and feel that I am not cutting it alone:(. Thus I figured to see if there are like minded people around so we could benefit from learning all this programming stuff together. Ed, what will you be studying at Imperial, is it Information Systems? Hi I am (as can be seen from my profile) an aspiring C# programmer/developer. I am living in the UK and am seeking to get in contact with other C# students or experienced programmers. I am close to London and would like to setup some kind of informal study groups with other C# students in the same area. I am sure there must be people out there with similar needs. I am currently using this forum to read about coding queries and the like but I would still like some live demonstrations or discussions. Contact me here if you are interested. Thanks Francois Benadie

To bad for De Villiers, but there is a very capable replacement in Francois Steyn - bright young rugby mind. Needs a bit of muscle and he will play the socks of the likes of Dan Carter for 10. When I first saw him it immediately conjured up images of the kings of fulbacks: the one and only Jubba. I hear that after the world cup the Springbok emblem will be a thing for the display cabinets only:mad: Real smart guys in SARFU are busy gutting the duck that lays the golden eggs. Where do they think the sport and the money will go if they take away the one and only thing that every rugby fanatic in SA respects??? If they continue to mess with the national side, Aus and NZ will put action to there threats of cutting us out of the Tri-nations as we will not be a worthy opponent by any standards. There, that was my rant for a late saturday night...just finishing some chapters on C# that I'm studying at the moment. Enjoy the rest of the games this week. WE can have another chat after Fridays game:cool:

Yes it must be French. Boy am I glad that I am not in the French team after Friday night... The Boks played well today and should put up a good fight against the English next. It will be another classic clash against them as they normally come back strong after a disappointing show, albeit a win. Op die Bokke!!! Cool, got me a new one the other day for £520 with a half price backpack style carybag thrown in. Fujitsu-Siemens with Core 2 Duo 1.5 GHz, 2GB Ram (2 x 1GB so can upgrade), 160GB HD, 15" widescreen and intel 965 graphics (that has upto 400MB RAM). Also has Vista Home Premium. Realy nice machine and it runs VS 2008 beta 2 with a smile :-D I like Vista as well so far. Couple of little things that they can fix or add to make it realy worth the difference. While on the subject, I have also be working with MacOS X Tiger at work (Molecular Biology Lab) and it is painfully obvious that MS has taken quite a number of the eye candy stuff from Apple? :-O

I think it is a combination of Ethics and Prefessionalism. We as programmers hold (should hold) professionalism in high regard. It will be appreciated by the client if he is informed of any shortcommings, whether they be from his side or yours. In the end this will make the difference if you get repaet business or not. Also word gets out - and that is sometimes more fruitfull/valuable than direct marketing. My two cents worth :->

My two cents: Wrox publishes a number of good books on C# 2.0 and .net 2.0. I am using it for MCAD I am also studying MCAD using C# (only just started). I am doing it throug a certified training provider. they provided my with Visual Studio 2003 books (all Microsoft published). I want to know if by studying C# using version 2003 of Visual Studio and the books on ver 1 of C#, that by the time I get certified (which might end of the year as I am doing it part time) I will be way behind the latest developments in C#.:~ Or will what I learn now using 2003 version still be applicable and I can just get up to speed with the new additions to the language and I will be fine?
