Thanks Dave, I figured this topic has come up quite a bit. And yes I agree with everything you mention here. Follow up, I see TONS of .net positions open in my area. (Southern PA) Is .net something I could jump into with no experience? If no, what would be a good stepping stone to get into .net? Also, If I were to tell you that I am a fairly intelligent guy, with laser-like focus on learning new skills, what time frame would it take to learn enough about .net (or any language) to get an entry level position. To give you a benchmark, I passed my CCNA cert after 7 weeks of studying on my own at home. Yes I know, learning a programming language is more involved and I expect to take much longer. Just looking for feedback.

GreetingsThanks, Although Im new to this board, I know that all boards have different cultures. But one thing they all have in common is the tar and feathering one receives by breaking rules. With that said. I have general questions about which languages to learn starting out. Would that be here or under another specific board relating to the language I am interested in?
