What I do is: Put the path in web.config file. To get the path for root you say "~" for example: if your project is Test.UI where the control is inside folder "Controls" Then in Web.Config goes the following: Now call this key to give the path of this control in your application. I am sorry if this does not make any sense :) If you are talking about two complete different project, this will not work.
