Hi Professionals, We have a complex application developed in asp.net web forms and ajax. the Application is very heavy and contains many complex functions. Lengthy (Header/details) forms, Complicated Gridviews and all supported with ajax controls. the application has been enhanced for the last 10 years to keep it with the latest tehnology and trends. we are planning to do major enhancement to the application - converting it to HTML5 and jquery/bootstrap the developers advising to re-develop the application in MVC because it is fully support jquery/callback and bootstrap I am not sure if we can go to in this direction or not. the current application is event based. most of the events are handled in the server side. for example we have a form with many sections being displayed or hidden based on a selection from multiple dropdowns. for that we are using asp.net panel with visible property. and we have other screens with gridviews loading huge data (more than 50,0000 rows) and we used the gridview built-in paging and sorting. beside we also have nested grids (Expand/Collapse) for each row of the parent grid I am not sure if all of these functionalities can be achieved by MVC/Bootstrap. could you please, advise.

Hi, at last i found the solutions in one of the forums ye but its still a bug. pretty amazing this survived beta. forums i read said you need to: 1) delete the main.out.xml file 2) close all layout files 3) select a .java file or the project node and then try to run nup. Still didn't work. I finally found out, purely by accident, that you also need to delet the compoile error that appears under the problems tab.

Hi All, I am new to Andriod Development, and i am using Eclipse java IDE. i am having troubles when i edit any files. The application is working fine unless each time if you need to change in any of the layout files or manifiest. (baiscally the XML files) it always troubling me :( just generating a empty of the file name with an "out" extention. example main.out.xml. then i have do delete the file and uload/load project manytimes and then it will come back to normal. this problem making me nurvois to change any files. can anybody tell me what is exactly the cause of this problem? thanks

Hi, The system is already designed and almost going to be finish... from our experience with many clients when we set with the HR team and take all thier requirements. Yes, it is a standard procedures. Job Seeker Register -> update his profile (his personal details, contacts and address) --> build his cv (using cv builder) or upload a document (CV). when he attempt to apply he either apply with his current CV or upload new one. this standard functionality is already taken into the account of the system. What i wanted is just to collect thouhgts and feedback. But i raise just one point which is: when a job seeker update his CV using CV builder tool. Technically, he his editing the current record not keeping it as an old version CV and building a New CV from scratch (Adding new Record.). And whenever he want to apply with different cv he can do: 1. upload new cv when he attempt to apply for job (this is the easy way) 2. using cv builder to build a new cv (this will overwrite the existing one) then apply with his curent updated cv. that was my point bcz some of our client asked for copying the entire CV records againest the job and keep the orginal one unchanged. We are trying to come up with a general job application that fits most requirements. the point i mentioned. i felt it is not right.

Thanks Mycroft Holmes, about having funtionality of creating professional CV containing projects, summary etc. it is already in the design plan.. but i did not mentioned. we have also, customized a recruitment website for our client using a puchased source code from the following UK company http://www.strategies.co.uk/products/job-board-software.asp[^] that was classic asp we bought before 3 years. i dont know if they have the .Net version or not. Anyway, those, guys also allowing job seeker to replace a CV when he is attempt to apply for a job. this will do the functionality of the differnet set of skills you mentioned. in our application, we are trying to collect all the good features from the different jobs applications and also, we have to look the real-life HR scenarios. thanks for your reply

Hi, Unfortunatly, no body gives his thoughts or feedback. So, i am going to reply myself. first of all, when a job seeker builds his/her CV he is always upgrading it during his career to make it more richer and professional. noboddy will, downgrade his CV. Hince, in any case when the employer view the job seeker cv (the current one) which he submitted a year back and same cv he submitted now.. will not make any different for the employer.. the CV is always uptodate. so, the system should be designed using the second way. which is keeping a single profile for the job seeker

Hi Guys, I am designing a Job Engine website for my developers. I have seen a lot of Job engine website in the net and ofcourse i know how the job engine works. But i have a point which worth to be discussed. ofcouse there will be database for jobs adverts and job seekers profiles/cvs. where job seekers will search for jobs and apply. Ok, The point that i would like to discuss here is: when the job seeker apply for a job. In real-life scenario, when a job seeker (John Smith) wants to apply for a job. he will send his cv to the employer. And again if the employer after some time advertise for another job. and the Job Seeker (John Smith) submitted his CV (but this time his profile/CV got update from last time). The Employer, in this case will have two cvs for (John Smith). Old one and Updated one. Now, comming back to our system design. the Job Seeker (John Smith) registered in the website and he created his profile and build his cv. of course he can update his profile/cv any time. If we follow the above real-life scenario, by making the system copy the entire job seeker profile againest the job advert he is appying. we may end up with the following: 1. Put more weight on the database by creating multiple job seekers profiles. 2. The Employer may get confused by seeing an old job seeker profile. and when he search about the same job seeker (John Smith) in the job seekers database, he will see a different (updated) profile for the same job seeker. Ok, the second scenario (which i am plannig to do) is: keeping a single profile for each job seeker and when a job seeker apply for a job.. we just link the job seeker profile with the job advert (no profile copy). but this way we will face the following: 1. Whenever a job seeker updated his profile it will get reflected in all the job advert responses. I mean, when an employer view the responses againest his job advert. he can see for exmple, application date, and job seeker name. and when he click on the job seeker name it just reading the job seeker profile from the database (the current). even if the job seeker applied before a year and before he updated his profile. what i want from you guys, just your feed back and thoughts. awaiting your replies.

Hi all, can anybody tell me which software is good to test page load. the software will have a button in the IE which you can start recod when a page is loading. this will give you all the http data (get and post) and all object used in the page and how many each cost the page to load. i am describing a tool that i used once last year. which i am not able to remember the name. only thing i can remember is "Professional" at the end of the name.

Hi All, we have a domain controller box (windows 2008) we configured the domain as "ourdomain.com" and everybody client in our LAN connected as ourdomain\username our problem is. our website which is "www.ourdomain.com" (which is hosted in extrenal Server in US) can't be browse when the cleint pc is connected to the LAN. it is pointed to our local domain controller. which is not website is configured from my house i can see the website (ofcouse bcz i am not connected to our LAN). i fixed the issue in my pc by adding an entry in the hosts file. but this is not proper solution. i have to do that for more than 40 staff in the company. anybody can advice what shall i do? thanks

Hi Guys, we have recently upgraded our development environment to windows server 2008R2 which includes IIS 7 now the developers cannot create or open asp.net website using visual studio from there pc. they are getting this error

Unable to create website 'http://dev-server/website'. The web server does not appear to have Front Page server extentions installed

we have searched the net and found that they are saying for windows 2008R2 WebDav is replaced FPSE and if we tried to install FPSE in windows 2008 we will get alot of errors (I have already installed it. it is showing the installation process but the finish screen did not show up!) so, we try the webDAV and configure, but none of the developers happy with this setup. they want like before (FPSE) i tried to create new website using vs2008 in the same server. it works fine without any problem. so we are getting the problem only if we try from the client pc. i have done all the security/permission issues allowed full control to everyone and iis_iusers does anyone knows what is the problem?

Thanks for your reply. i agree with you. but for your information, i am not waiting to get the error from that database in order to catch it in my DAL/BusinessObject. i am already doing my validation also in the UI. what i really want to make sure is, the data are inserted right. i dont want to keep any chance for developers to play with the application UI to update the database. now you make me confused. because i am doing the database design. here is another question: if i consider the following in my database design: - primary keys - Forien Keys - Default Values - Check Constraint - indexes - Database Diagrams is it bad database design?

Thanks, oh yeah.. i forgot about the check :sigh: and you are right to validate the data in the UI. which i am aleady doing it. the reason why i want to do the validation in the database design level, is to make sure that we are adding the right data and also, to prevent the other developers from playing with the database. our database is shared one and we are using it many applications. thanks for your reply

Hi, is there any way to write a validation rule for the field in the datbase design of sql server 2005. Like ms access. i tried to search the net but no luck. so i decided to write triggers on insert and update to validate my data. please, advice me if this is good approach. or if there is anything else we can do in the datbase design. (what i mean by validation rule is to for example for my numeric field i want the data to be in a specific range.)

hi, i know what is silverlight and i know it is a browser client application in web page. but in silver light also you can create business application that can be communicated with the database through domainDataSource class and you have alot of controls like DataGrid FormView etc. what i am asking is that; is it posible to develope a complete business application like what we do in .net web application. i think the best thing for me is to take an existing web application and try to re-develop it using silverlight business application.

Hi all, I used to use .Net application for all our web application. I did not really interested to do silverlight buiness application dispite it is very cool and the UI is nice. i had an argument with one of my collegue. he is saying that we can use silverlight Biz. application instead of our web application for our development. but what i am saying that silverlight is not much sopheticated to be able to develop huge application. it is designed for small and basic applications only. this was our agrument. i tried to find out comparision between silverlight Business Application and Web Application. i could not find. thats why i am posting my question here which is: Can we use SilverLight Business Application to do all our web applications
