What if your simply need to develop an advanced software for speech or image recognition or a chess-playing system, without the luxury of building your own hardware, with limitations on CPU usage, say 20% max.

What is the "best" programming language for Artificial Intelligent Systems:laugh:   No offence, but i meant "serious", "practical" AI. VB could do it, but maybe not efficiently.

New developmentI would clearly state my plans on paper, sleep over it and wake the next morning to see of it still makes sense to me. If it does, i would develop a prototype of my idea and take it to an appropriate company or investor who could benefit from the solution that i am providing.

"Do you really need to know C? I think so."Knowing C or C++ greatly helps a programmer understand a lot of the programming concepts such as object oriented programming and how your program uses computer memory thru pointers.

What is the "best" programming language for Artificial Intelligent SystemsThis is a follow up from the post "Is C# suitable for artificial intelligent systems". I really enjoyed the discussion. But then if you had to choose a programming language for a 'real world' artificial intelligent system development, what would it be? C, C++, LISP, PROLOG, C#, VB ... ?:confused::confused:

Is C# suitable for artificial intelligent systems? How well does C# cope for artificial intelligent systems like image and speech recognition? Does the .NET framework make it relatively difficult for practical implementation and slow?:confused::confused:

Mobile developmentI have a Sony Ericsson P990i and i would very much love to get some software created for it. But i just do not know which platform to develop with. I know there is UIQ 3 for Symbian but i would like to start with some JAR applications. Any advice!!!:confused::confused:

When does a software developer retire? When does a software developer or programmer retire? Is it (when his brains can no longer think) OR (when his hand and fingers can no longer type) { :-O } OR do we live and program forever ??

Last code before DEATH!!!Interesting Steve... i hope you develop it before i grow my first gray hair. You have no idea the kind of parameters i would stuff into that MAGIC routine.

Last code before DEATH!!!Supposing you had to choose ONE last software to develop before your death, what would it be? I would love to write one that develops the software by reading a programmer's thoughts... ...even when asleep

Programmers and FoodIts quite interesting that even though most software developers complain that there's virtually no time to do anything but write code, the majority still enjoy talking about food. Interesting huh ...
