Sorry, no witticisms. If you just need something for a test rig and don't need to be elegant or cheap, use a stepper controller-indexer.

Epson printers are crapI second using more expensive paper. Many, like 30 years ago I had a nice Epson ink-jet (~$500!). After some years of light use, the feeding started to fail. I bought a cleaning kit which included a solvent-like liquid that put back some tackiness/removed glaze from the roller. Things were much improved. However, I doubt your printer is old enough to need this treatment. I literally put the thing in the trash because the cartridges failed so often when I was travelling a lot and there were long periods of non-use. Now I have an HP laser CP1525nw, which is ok except when you have to reestablish a WiFi connection. I recently started using the manual duplex feature and was having many failures. I switched from low-tier paper to Hammermill 20 and 24 # paper, which claims almost 0% jams and it has not had a single failure. With the 24#, when you print a 15 sheet document, you do feel like you're holding an entire tree in your hand. The 20# has worked just as well.

Keyboard ArtistWe had a physics problem, 50 years ago, applying the uncertainty principle to the question of how quickly could a tuba player change notes. Ans: about 2 times/second at the low end. Can anyone check this on the video?

Is There Any Reason To Keep Old Software?Ah, Turbo everything. Back when I had more money than time, I bought everything Borland came up with. Aside from Pascal I never got further than the equivalent of Hello World with most of it. I should have spent the money on Microsoft stock. I may still have the box that Paradox came in. It was just the right size for an early IoT prototype.

I would like to conduct a survey....You're holding it wrong.

Doing an experiment - flat vs curved monitorsI've had the same arrangement for about 3 months and I'm pretty happy. I was lucky that I could buy the same model again after more than a year so they match. They are just FHD; if they were any more than 24 inch, the pixels would be too big.

App, or Pocket calculator? It's a mix; I have a default spreadsheet that opens with Excel for various notes and scratch work. If it's a calculation with lots of terms, I use an RPN calculator, either an HP 35s (which is the worst HP ever) or Realcalc on an Android phone. This thread reminds me that I have some kind of solar Casio somewhere which is infinitely better than the HP for base conversions. I don't miss it too much as Realcalc is very good at this. If only it was available on an iPhone.

Do you OneNote?Good old Ecco(Pro). It was kept alive for years by Compusol Creative Solutions and "slangmgh". I never mastered all the views, but it was the best outliner/list keeper I've ever used.

What is your C64?Mine was a C64. It was a big improvement to get the disk drive, even if I did have to leave the cover off so I could get the disk spinning by hand. The best thing was a Forth cartridge that I used to write a version of Conway's Life. My favorite programming experience to date.
