For what it's worth, I think you've done exactly the right thing here, and that's admirable. (Let's be honest, had you kept quiet there's a fair chance no one would ever have known). I would agree with John to the extent that unfair voting isn't right and does cause potentially more deserving articles to be glossed over, but insisting that the article be withdrawn is a bit extreme. You've highlighted the problem and it should be easy enough for Chris/CP to remove the votes from very new members. You got the nomination on your own, and totally deserve it in my opinion, it looks like a good article. Whatever the outcome here, keep writing.
