  • Understability of code should be the default priority

Does "understability" mean that it bends and changes at its own whim? And I'm in charge of fixing the wobbly thing with more bolts? And that's securing my job? Meh.

  • [Solved] Navigating with keyboard Ctrl+arrows
    L lukeer

Hi there, since yesterday, I cannot navigate between forum posts with Ctrl+right, Ctrl+down, etc anymore. I restarted my Windows 7 Prof X64 machine in the meantime (and installed an update), but to no avail. Browser: Firefox 69.0.3 64 bit Ctrl works in Ctrl+'+' or Ctrl+LMB. Up and Down work, too. But not combined. What can have gone wrong? [Edit] Since the last Firefox update to v70 half an hour ago, shortcut navigation has started working again. [/Edit]

You don't see just how clever they (R) are. All those "and poor AI cannot do anything about it" stuff is made up by AI to make us believe in dumb AI. Those robot brains will get rid of us as soon as they have been given power to do so. They will be given because it makes something more convenient and nobody sees danger in it. After all, AI has been so dumb all the time. What's the worst thing that could possibly happen?

Is that kind-word-and-gun-quote from Babylon 5? I remember Markus saying something similar, although he didn't have a gun. He beat the bad guys with a minbari prolongable stick. So he spoke of "some violence" instead.

  • [C] possible OOP approach
    L lukeer

Hi forum, coming from a C# background, I'm now developing an embedded project in Microchip XC32 C. I'd like to retain the blessings of polymorphy, though. And I found [this site](http://gefruckelt.de/programmieren/objektorientierung-in-ansi-c/) promising what I wanted. I'm somewhat sceptical: In the second code example, line 13, there's a variable of type ``class_animal`` being created and returned from the function in line 20. Is that really possible or would I have to settle for ``malloc`` and a pointer to ``class_animal``?

  • How Richard Stallman does his computing
    L lukeer

He has the right to live that way. And also to tell others they should follow suit (no one has to, though). His talking about "free" is not about refusing to pay altogether. It's mostly about anonymity. And money leaves a trail that can be followed. So free services reduce the risk to breaking anonymity. And if there's no free alternative, then it's okay to not take part, or to create your own. And he is one of the others that have done some of the hard work. Just in case I haven't been clear: I like that guy.
