Not sure, but list_articles.asp seems to be broken... http://www.codeproject.com/script/articles/list_articles.asp?userid=6890[^] for instance doesn't show any articles (tried with some others too)

    M Marc Richarme

The ToggleBlock script in the profile settings page screws up the page layout when used in netscape 7. Netscape now supports most of the useful DHTML & DOM functionlity IE has, but it seems there's an issue here...

  • Access vs. SQL
    M Marc Richarme

Hi, I'm quite interested in this issue, as I'm part of a network admin group for the dorm where I live. ATM, most links are running at half-duplex, but we're thinking about upgrading the whole thing to full duplex. You don't happen to have an url or two describing this issue in detail?

If you're obsessed with security, Debian is the way to go... In most other cases, I would stick to RedHad (even though rpm dependencies tend to lead to a certain amount of annoyance, I must admit)

  • US versus Europe
    M Marc Richarme

Phone & Cable services are private in most European countries too, and they do make profit of ISDN, for example (and I think it's quite successful too). The smart thing about those services is that no phone lines / cables need to be replaced to implement them, so only a tiny investment is required compared to ADSL, for example.

Jonathan Austin wrote: You won't even get ANY nudity on normal "cable" channels Funny, I was just watching one of the Danish national TV channels, and there was this ad in the middle of the day featuring an entirely naked man & womon (not having sex, of course, just walking on the street completely naked). This didn't shock me at all (and I don't think it shocks anybody here), but I'm wondering how people would have reacted to that same ad a couple of years ago, or how people elswhere would react today. [Edit] P.S. With a sunny 30° celcius (85° F), a properly insulated house will keep a nice 24-25° inside -> No need for air conditioning in normal houses. This again relates to the energy consumption issues. (I do realize that in some areas, the temperature gets above 95° F, and in theese cases, I would probably praise AC in my home too, but insulation can do wonders and save plenty of energy and money)

I had the same recation as you.. Other things like the legal age for buying alcohol (21); that it's forbitten to consume alcohol in public area :omg: (afaik, there's something about wrapping liquor bottles in paper bags too); and many others, also seem ridiculous to me.

  • [Survey] What is the most secure crypto algorithm?
    M Marc Richarme

The whole point is that even if an attacker knows exactly how the "system" works (how keys are exchanged, what communication channels are used) and he interceps the encrypted message, he will not be able to retrieve the original content of the message. This makes it possible to transfer sensitive data over unsecure mediums (like the internet, radio communication, phone lines, etc) where the encrypted message can easily be intercepted.

    Marc
