:suss::cool:Hey guys, my IT group got Vista running on the following machines: Duron 1.6 30 Gig hard drive 512 Ram 128 Gforce 5500 Pentium 1.4 20 Gig hard drive 768 Ram 256 Gforce 6500 Celeron 1.8 40 Gig hard drive 512 Ram 128 Gforce 5500 Athlon 1800 XP 30 Gig hard drive 512 Ram 128 Gforce 5500 They all run with areo glass effects and we have not had a problem with any of the machines. We also loaded office live on them and the users seem to be working with little problem. Instead of going high end, my cohorts went lowest common machine with a few upgrades. This is what we have learned: - Anything above 1 ghz processor works. it may be slow on some tasks - Video card with at least 128 meg of RAM. You can run without the areo glass stuff, but if you want to full effect, I suggest a higher end card in a older machine will make a world of difference. - RAM. 512 is bare minimum. You will get some disk spin if you are multi-tasking items because of running out of ram. - expect 6 to 11 gig for operating system & swap file. So a hard disk of 20 gig is barely making it. 40 Gig for an average user doing documentation and daily items. Hope this is informative.
