When I first read a Holerith card without having to pass it through the deck reader!, and could cut and paste Fortran by eye on the punch tape printer - and physically Cut the tape, and paste to the other tape lying in the box that it dropped into. We dreamed long and hard back then - about what were the best scissors for cut and paste!

iPhone is real [updated] [again]I'd like to feel the Braile Version... What with all those colourful bumps and stuff! Wonder if you get busy signals that ripple accross the touch pad? What happens if you put it on mute, put it down, and forget where you put it? Does it have a Kibbles and bits smell to it so that your seeing eye dog can find it for you? Have Apple really thought much about this, after all most phones these days are quite usable. Why pay $$$ for a phone, with a TV, and a radio and email - when you already have those things? Senario: I am driving my car (The reason you have Braile on the Drive up ATM's at Banks.) watching the news on my iphone - when all of a sudden it rings... Now even more distracted than before, and wanting to watch the news, with my radio playing in the background, I answer the phone call to say I'm busy at the moment, while now avoiding the car in front of me who is watching porn on his iphone (I know that because he's swerving!) So now I'm p'eed off because I missed the news, had to avoid an accident, and having trouble switching the phone off. As you can see I'm a fan of Weapons of Mass Distraction - Goooooo Apple, the members of the Accident Prone People's LeaguE (APPLE) love you.

The Early YearsI'm not saying I am old... but after Latin class we studied Beginners All Purpose Instruction Code (BASIC) which assisted us in creating Fortran code to print out to a paper tape - which we cut with scissors and taped back together to form the entire program which we ran back thorugh the punch tape reader. But that was only in the early 70's, boy did we have it tough in the 60's before all the new fangled stuff like that appeared... I use C#, and build WPF apps using WCF and WF (WWF was already taken by a bunch of sweaty guy's) so nothing much has really changed. Except hard drives don't take too kindly to scissors...

How do I become a super programmer?I Remember the following statement when it comes to programming: We the unwilling, lead by the unknowing, doing the impossible for the ungreatful, have done so much with so little for so long that we are now qualified to do ANTHING with NOTHING! so always start by complaining "You want it when???", and build it in a third of the time! You than automatically become a super programmer.
