:)You could look into MythTV - an Open Source Project just google mythTV - the Server runs on Linux but the end-User or Client version can run on linux, pc, or mac. And there are other items that can interface with it. Check out MediaMVP made by Hauppage. The Hardwire Version is $100 and the Wireless Version which can also be wired is $150. Both have a remote that you can access the files. MythTV is like a TIVO, but can also import your DVDs, music, photos, etc. There is also in automatic install which I have not tried but it is called KnopMyth, not sure if I spelled that right.
