Not sure about past few years, but lately the way it searches has definitely changed. I have noticed basically two things. 1. Previously it was matching all words to find a good match, so if you type required words in random order, it used to find links that may be a hit. NOW, it seem to matching with sentence and also applying some kind AI to infer what you are trying to search for. 2. Second, through my previous searches, it tries to find related link for this search. The first point is something I am not liking. As previously, I just have to type technical words for which I am facing problem and it gets all CP/SO links that contains those words. Now due to it's intelligence applied, I have to make sure the search phrase I type makes some sense, else it doesn't find good links. That's my opinion though ! :)

If you are in stealth mode using some software, you are hacked.... Visible again at the top in Who's Who. :-D

Hey, I just happened to stumbled upon Who's Who and found that OG is not at top-spot !! How's that !? Or he is above the numbering system with the reputation he has got. :omg: Some kind of Overflow error ! ;P

Whatever Marc said is very true.. Never try to hog the limelight and never dictate ! And if I may add: Never try to micro-manage - give them space to maneuver. don't give solution immediately (specially to technical problem) even if you have one unless extremely critical time-crunch. Give pointer and let them fail and learn, That gives them great pleasure and satisfaction when they solve the problem :-)

Thanks for all the advises :-) Lappy came with 1 TB and I have 1 TB ext. HDD. So, for now, I will go ahead as you said: backup, upgrade, test for few days and then partition.. You are right that it won't help in hardware failure but at least in OS issues, it helps a little. But before all that let me make sure my other oldie laptop can connect to internet else I will be in stone-age without help in case of any issue...
Thanks, Milind
The laptop came with 1 TB (DELL ones come with single partition, don't know why they do that) and I was in so hurry to start working that I installed everything and later realized that I need to partition... So now, I have data of 300 GB in 1 TB harddisk, people say that I can partition with s/w like partition-magic without loosing data. But having only one laptop (for work) I am reluctant to take that risk.. Hence question, should I partition before upgrade to Win-10 (I am planning to try in-place upgrade first)..
Thanks, Milind
Hi OG And All, I am planning to bite the bullet finally and upgrade to Win10 (from windows 8.1) !:~ So, taking advice from many discussion here on CP, I thought of taking precautions (read backup). And I have few questions. 1. Do I download from www.aomeitech.com ? 2. My C drive (and only one) has about 300 GB data. How much space I need on external HDD? 3. In case of event I need to rollback, how will it work ? Will it create a bootable CD or something ? And for general upgrade: If I do in-place upgrade (or whatever that is called), will it have one drive only or it will give me option to partition? Or should I partition before? Any other precautions? Thanks in advance..

Forget about consensus between countries.... In India, in one city, we do not have consensus whether the lights should be vertical or horizontal... At one intersection it's vertical and very next one may be vertical !! But as Virang rightly said, it is followed only if there is traffic police at the intersection. And the funniest part is, traffic police won't be standing at intersection and will stand at one corner just after it. Then you break the signal and then they catch you... and it is anybody's guess why !

And predictably Visual Basic is most dreaded language !!

SQL Developer and Toad are horrible IDEs
Can't agree more. Oracle SQL Developer is leaking memory horribly. Every now and then it becomes unresponsive. Toad too has its own issue.. pretty unfriendly UI I would say..

I know this is old thread but thought of replying nonetheless. Actually, the exam system in here (India) is bad. It's improving but at a pace where even snail can win... The problem is not with learning/ teaching history, its important, but just forcing memorization of dates/events is definitely a problem. Politically, History is used in education system to its benefit by pushing certain topics with certain perspective !! As one of the member said, its really not about teaching a particular subject in early years of schooling but to introduce the kid to all the subjects so the kids (and their parent) know what interests the kid.. But for that teacher needs to be really a teacher by heart. In India, teaching is a profession where any one can get in (because of huge demand) and anyone gets in just because its less work and paid summer/winter/Diwali breaks.. Their heart is not there in the profession really.. I can go on and on about this topic... its a pinching nerve looking at the pathetic state of education system and being helpless to do anything. So I stop here.. :((

Are you sure you typed the title of the message correct !!! I mean six hours.. Where 1 hour means 60 minutes ! And you went on coding without saving or even running (Ctrl + F5) or debugging (F5) even once.. ! Unbelievable ! :|

You can un-cross the fingers in that case. :-)
Thanks, Milind
Early on, I realized that I need break after certain period and it helps working better. I blamed it on the low attention span. And the breaks are mostly non-productive... Never give a detailed thought on getting something else done in that time... Good insight...Thanks :-)
Thanks, Milind
keep fingers crossed and prey nobody else realize that it could be done the old way. Spare some time to find, why the old way is / was NOT the right way, even if it could be done (which you may have to admit if someone else finds out).. and then don't un-cross the fingers :-)
