Maybe there is an explanation for this. The newest job engines belongs to some of the biggest recruitment agencies, and those job engines handle everything in recruiting process for the client company. They offer to integrate part of their services into the website of the company - job application form, job advertisements, and after that they govern the entire process, they save the data, parse the CV and try fill some data from it according their needs. The infrastructure of those job engines requires constant support and quite often this support is outsourced into some BPO company, in a country where the salaries are not so high - Eastern Europe, Magreb, Vietnam etc. etc. Those BPO companies usually hire low paid workers, students or similar, the turnover is quite high, so it is quite easy that some fraud happens. It might even be a common practice - they see some good CV, they tag it wrong and the application of this person is done, it will no longer work properly. Why do they do this - they can use the good CV and they can change it to suit some other, far less experienced developer to land a great job. You can thing of this in the following way - biggest job engines start to be just like some of the biggest social media websites and similar services, for example dating sites. Great commercials, lots of applicants, but the return value for applicants is not much. You might wonder - why is this being unnoticed, how come nobody notice such bad thing? And the answer is - the number of applicants in such engines is very big, some of the biggest clients of such job engines receive thousands of applications - like 600 000 or 700 000 for a 100 or 120 positions. Calculate the ratio. So in very short summary - those job engines are mainly for making cheap commercials, kind of advertising of the companies. It might even happen that HR publish fake job offers of the developers of the engine or integration team publish fake job offers after an update just to see how it works. Main part of personal is recruited by other means. Around 60%-70% of the cases of successful recruiting is when there is a inside recommendation from an existing employee or something similar. The HR of client company in such case follow the application step by step and make sure that everything works fine. At least this is my experience in Europe.

  • And again someone changed my timezone and messed up settings
    N N c a N c a o

I am located in Sofia, Bulgaria. Bulgaria has only one time zone and official time in Bulgaria is UTC+3. In Bulgaria there are summer and winter times, winter is consider default. When it goes to it, it goes to UTC+2. I am not sure if they (government) still keep changing that or it has been made obsolete. In your system there are two time zones, in which Sofia falls: the first is GMT +1:00 Sarajevo; Skopje; Sofia; Vilnius; Warsaw; Zagreb; and the second is GTM +2:00 Helsinki; Riga; Tallinn; Kyiv; Sofia; Vilnius; I set several times the first one, GMT +1:00, and in some period of time it goes to the second one, GMT +2:00. So I have notice this change and started to wonder why it happens. That's it. I believe it is not a security issue. I do not use shared machine and I believe nobody hacked one of mines. Account is old, from 2007 and during this period I have changed several machines, for sure I have logged from many places. I clear user data quite often and I also disconnect all existing connections, if any, expect the current one. However, I am not 100% sure, after all I buy a retail Windows 10 OS and I am sure there is a backdoor in it, but I guess only government security employees can access it and I don't see a reason for them to do it.

Yeah, I have posted the same content several times, because I wondered whether it is a bug or it is moderated, deleting the redundant comment is fine. I am also fine with waiting some time before comment is moderated, this is a minor thing. I am not sure about your comment for timezone and that it has nothing to do with system. Usually such system weight various comments from various users and based on this example set they determine what is spam and what is not. One example from similar issue: years ago, bunch of football fans decided to make fun and cheer up few local players. So, for Macedonian version of Google translate they started to confirm as input a name of relatively unknown player and as a translation in English a name of world famous player appear. Both names, both strings has nothing to do, neither as character proximity, neither as similar character combinations. So the translation service just weighted what users tells it - this sequence of characters is being transformed into another and real users confirms it is fine. And when this is confirmed by hundreds of fans for a specific geographic location it stays like that. This funny translations lasted for several months, before being fixed. So something similar is happening here - for specific settings your spam system looks at some references and treat comments like spam. Few persons can easily get the last comments made by a user, post them in various sites and then mark them there as spam. They just need to know which sites are used as references by your spam system and that's it. Of course, this is just my suggestion, it might has nothing to do with real reason :)

I believe this has nothing to do with cookies on my machines. Only timezone is visibly changed, other settings are not. The main thing resulting from this change, and main reason for my frustration, is that after this seemingly minor change in settings, just a timezone change, my comments on articles are treated like spam. So, I have published several articles, I have posted some amount of comments and questions on various code project articles and yet, on regular basis my profile is changed and my comments are marked as spam.

At regular basis someone from code project is changing my settings - for example time zone is always set to Kiev, Ukraine and I am located in Sofia, Bulgaria. When this happens more than 3-4 times it is not fun anymore. After every one of those changes I am banned of commenting articles. I guess some of the support employees, usually volunteers, is doing that.

And again someone changed my timezone and messed up settings. This is happening on regular basis, I would suggest to support employees (to few ones in particular): Stop doing it.

There are currently at least five articles mentioning the word for falling block game on the site, they have been there for years and it appears not to be a problem. Anyway, if this article is causing such trouble, it is better not to share it here or not to share it in current form, but with changed label and more explanations, maybe few code examples. The source code is slightly larger and it will be difficult and non-user friendly if I have to use the approach with code snippets or code screen-shots, as I did in my previous articles.

I have made an article with an explanation what the code do. It points out to GitHub repository, where the entire code base is present. It has been deleted. There are similar articles on same topic, Tetris game published on this site, there are more than 33 000 such project on GitHub, why this one has been deleted? It provides short explanation of the code, major things are explained well, no need to explain everything, and working prototype of project is displayed. If someone like it, they can easily go and see how the game is made. But why deleting the entire article?

  • Images shown in preview, not shown when published
    N N c a N c a o

Hello, I am experiencing this again, but I forgot how did I solve it the last time :) I have an article to publish and most of the images are wider than 640/700 px. So I would like to upload the original images and to restrict their width to 640 by width tag. But I want users to be able to click on them and see the image in original size. This is important especially for bigger screenshots with code. I initially did that like < a href="address_of_bigimage.png" >< img src="smallimage.png" />< a/> (there are some spaces put in the html part only for this comment, so that it appears as html and not be autoformatted). Can this be done in an easier manner? If not, what will be the address of all images for the article - it should be code project domain, then KB (knowledge base) and then some number I guess? Thanks in advance

  • How can I fix the gifs in my recent article?
    N N c a N c a o

Thank you Sean. The gifs are wider that 700 px, so this is why they are not shown. I will try to fix this myself using your suggestion and hopefully I will not bother you. In case I do not succeed, I will contact you via e-mail, I know your e-mail from my first article, where you fixed one gif as well :)

  • How can I fix the gifs in my recent article?
    N N c a N c a o

In my recent article I am using four gifs to show functionality of the application after every completed part of the article. They are however not working, only the first frame of the gif is shown. How can I fix those gifs, for example when users click on the image thumbnail, the real gif to be loaded? Or maybe some other approach can be used?

You actually can be pretty close. The name with Cyrillic letters, which I use, is kind of our version of Ordinary Joe, although little bit more funny, i.e. so maybe when some other people in other forums use it, they can actually be posting spam. And from there the spam score here increases as well.

So I guess we can all agree that if system allows registered and logged users with some reputation to post messages, which are not flagged as spam, this will make things easier.

Ok, thank you for your reply. I see now how it works :) Because everybody who can post has to be code project member for some time, I was thinking that some of the support just hide some messages for fun :) After all, the comments for new articles are not so many, at least in the beginning. I have posted my message twice, just to be sure that it will appear :)

Thank you to all CodeProject staff - you're doing a great job. Final wish - could we fix the fat gif i have in my article? It's the only gif in the article and present demo in final form. I guess you are using some tool for resizing the images and this tool just took the first frame of the gif, resize it and place it there. Please, let me know if I should upload a smaller gif or we can go with the main one and just set width=600px for it?
