  • Corrupting MP3s...
    O OrxataEnFartons

Good idea. It never occurred to me to check those thinks. Next time I'll take a look at it comparing the file details with their copies in the backup. Anyway I cannot remember to have found that issue in the last years, so I just assumed that whatever was causing it, just got improved.

  • Corrupting MP3s...
    O OrxataEnFartons

That happened to me quite several times, exactly as you say, but not during the last years. I don't understand in some of the replies if people mean "the player broke it" or "the specific player plays the noise". Anyway I could hear the errors no matter the player. I finally assumed that it was hardware, a disk corruption. But I don't agree with the "why would this only happen with MP3 files?", because that has happened to me with any kind of file, like images or other immutable documents.

  • What to do next
    O OrxataEnFartons

Some years ago a friend received by chance two iPads as a present at the same time. Her husband suggested to sell one of them. They received a similar message and she told me she was unsure about sending it because she found it very strange. I told her not to do it, that it was an obvious scam. For instance, they sent a document from a bank that didn't even exist. But her husband insisted in giving a vote of confidence to the purchaser (to tell you the truth, I expected the husband to do just the opposite of what I suggested). Some weeks after that I asked her about the end of the story and she begged me to never mention this issue in front of her husband.

  • Office 2019 or 365?
    O OrxataEnFartons

Same for me. I've been using OpenOffice and then LibreOffice for years, at the begining just because it was free. Recently I had to install Office in my work to fill a .doc template, and LibreOffice messed it up. I found absolutely terrible what they have done to that program. I had to restart it many times because sometimes I moved an image an suddenly the content of the pages dissapeared or became strange characters. Unexpected behaviors, commands overlapping. Or try to resize an image inside a text box when the margins of the objects disappear. Commands that I could never found, other ones hidden in unexpected places... What a mess! This application was not so bad last time I used it. While LibreOffice became better and better with time, I see that Word followed the opposite direction.

  • [solved] Mrs or Ms, sorry if it is a Leslie
    O OrxataEnFartons

I always use Ms. I don't differentiate the treatment of men depending on if they are married or not, so I do the same with women. In Spain, to call the equivalent to Mrs to a woman is something quite old-fashioned -usually it comes from seniors- and considered offensive. But could be acceptable for a teenager.

  • Low back pain
    O OrxataEnFartons

Yes. I've been there. Practise sport or, at least, walking, moving. Don't wait to stop hurting to move, it's just the opposite, you should force yourself to move for the pain to disappear. If you can't sleep at night because of the pain, a heating pad works perfect for me. You can have a terrible chair and table, but if you keep yourself active the pain won't appear. While working, try to find an excuse to stand and walk a bit every hour. Source: decades of experience of back problems.

  • Manual transmission or automatic transmission?
    O OrxataEnFartons

I understand people who prefers the manual transmission to feel they control the machine (this discussion is similar to the robotics/handcrafted issue, or the vynil/CD DJs,...). Personally I prefer to put my attention in other things: the environment, the traffic or the route and not to worry in mechanical issues.

  • Personal monetary reserves
    O OrxataEnFartons

I heard someone specialized in domestic economy recommend to reserve at least a quantity enough to keep going six months without any income, that gives you margin to find another job, or recover if you had an illness. That's what I do. Of course, I try to increase that quantity anyway. But if eventually I need part of that money, then I save hard to reach the 6 month threshold as soon as possible. When I reach that quantity, I save too. But you feel less worried as the number of 'saved months' increases, so you indulge yourserlf occasionally, or you increase your quality of life in some way.

  • Memories.
    O OrxataEnFartons

I was thinking about a similar issue some days ago. I find it surprising the fact that I remember many of my dreams. Not specially shocking nightmares, or dreams with high emotional content… For instance, I was taking a shower some days ago when a dream came to my mind in which I was alone waiting for the bus and nothing happend, just some seconds waiting for a bus. I had this dream maybe a decade ago or more. Then I tried to make a list of dreams I could remember, and many of them were as irrelevant than that. I think once I read or heard somewhere that the brain considers the dreams equivalent to reality when trying to learn or get experience, a kind of sandbox. But I find it surprising that the brain stores such insignificant memories that are not even real.
