Just for clarification, does that mean my suggestion would not produce a comparable view?

Are my math correct? -
Are my math correct? In Windows 11 (and probably 10) there is an Accessiblity setting for text size which has a slider so you can adjust to any % not just 125% etc. If you have Windows, try it out on your current monitors and see what you think. IIRC fonts in the Windows UI use the same number of pixels for text regardless of the monitor resolution making the text will smaller on the new monitor, so it might be possible to get a reasonable idea of what you will see by simply sitting a little further back from your current monitors to see something comparable to what the new monitor would show you at the normal distance.

I was sent this, and...I think I need to wait for the Cybermen Collective to respond before I make my decision, that or the Lib Dems.

Converting old DVD rips...It's always nice to be appreciated :)

Converting old DVD rips...Some notes about general conversion: Choose a quality setting/target average bitrate appropriate for the source format. Make sure that decombing is on (prevents the horizontal comb-like jagged edges) Sound data can be passed through unaffected by the video conversion (which could prevent sync problems). Specifically about Handbrake, it does everything I want and it's been my go to for years. It's sometimes hard how to find how to do something just by looking at the options available in the app (sound passthru being an example) but it is so widely used that you'll find help in the forums.

I think Amazon is losing the plot. Also the curiosity poking email with the obscure item in the image with the unrecognised name at the top of the email. The thing is always the last in a list of other mundane objects they are really trying to push onto you. So I now start at the bottom find out what it is, and it's alway something that I have not the remote interest in, but I gain a little more knowledge so I think it might actually be from Amazon Education :)

Mathematical notationWord processors can easily do super/subscript using hotkeys combos and have a equation editor for more complex equations - LibreOffice is free and has editor called Math (I've not used it, so this is not a recommendation).

Well, that was fun.Had mine Monday, Tuesday was not as bad as you, but no fun as it affected my breathing. Wednesday was OK. Glad I didn't try for the flu shot at the same time.

I wonder if I should chance itI've done something similar, but email had still got it. If you emailed it do you still have access to that email, or does the recipient?

Building My Next CloneI forgot to say, check the motherboard specs to see what features are included - a basic motherboard will have some of these outputs: ethernet 1 GHz, wi-fi, sound. You might have to go up a price bracket to get them all. Storage: check that number of SATA ports match what you want and have a look at m.2 nvme for fast storage for the OS.

Building My Next CloneTry pcpartpicker.com. They have recommended builds that list suitable compatible components. It seems to be very game based but if that's not what you want their basic builds are based on cpus with an igpu. It's regional, so you'll get the local prices for each part.

I caught my kid chewing on electrical cordsCurrently, I hope the kid is offering no resistance to being grounded, that would potentially make a big enough difference to blow his fuse.

a question about hardwareA breadboard is a quick way of arranging and rearranging circuits. A breadboard kit is cheap and comes with LEDs, resistors etc. Edit: And a multimeter to check p.d's and current.

Adventures in fan controlIf method 1 works and method 2 does not, then there is either an error in the time recorded or an error in the maths. You should be getting about 17000 microseconds between pulses. How many did you get? (60s/1700 rpm = 0.035 s per rotation = 17000 microseconds per 1/2 rotation)

Some of my favorite meaningless advertising phrasesQuality product! High or low is not specified, but low is most likely. Made with 100% xxxx. Could also include xxxx which is not 100%. Could also claim that the xxxx which is not 100 % contains some 100% xxxx and so it IS made with 100% xxxx! So does not even have 100% xxxx added as a separate ingredient.

Windows 11, what a mess!Yep, I got Start8 soon after I 'upgraded' to Windows 8. Now I only upgrade Windows if there's a Start version ready for it.
