I haven't read Asimov's Foundation series, so I don't know how similar these recommendations will be, but here's a couple of British authors I reckon are well worth a read: Iain M. Banks - Writes Sci-Fi under this alias, fiction without the M. Peter F Hamilton - Excellent Sci-Fi author, would suggest the Nights Dawn Trilogy as a starting point. Happy Reading Phil
