I want to nominate Visual Studio but I'm not sure if that would be 2010 or the new 2011. 2010 was an awesome product.

Richard Grimes bids farewell to .NETNish, It IS curious as to why, after having so much invested in .NET, that he would shuck it all. Any idea why, and why now? Robert Scott

Hosting Plans for Whidbey? Thanks for answering Paul. I think you're correct in everything you said. Actually, I would be willing to pay for the service, but was meaning that it would be for education/non-production use. "Where there's a market, there's a way!" Thks again.

Mono sucksI got mono my senior year of high school. The one mistake I made back then was whenever i laid down for awhile i would start to feel "normal" again so I kept getting up and try to do normal stuff. It was the wrong plan. The best advice is keep resting and let it run it's course. Robert S.

UK Self Employed DevelopersI am speaking from the US but I'm sure there is a similar issue in the UK. An accountant is almost a must because, among other things, there are tax reporting requirements which I don't know and have no desire to learn. They also, of course, are handy to help keep your finanical books. One question that I would love to hear others experience with is the need for liability insurance. As an example of a need for this, suppose you write an app for a company and later they claim that an error in your program caused them a loss of income. My one experience with liablity insurance was that I took out a policy for a year. Cost: $3,500. Other than me sending my check and the insurance company sending me my policy, there was no communication between us during the year. At the end of the year they informed me that they would not renew my policy. What's with that??? Anyway, is this needed??? :~

64-bit QuestionCould anyone explain the difference between the terms "64-bit" and "64-bit w/extensions"? Are there differences from a developers standpoint? What are the ramifications of Microsoft withdrawing Windows XP support for the Itanium2? Thanks. Robert Scott

When to start a new language?[MSA] Matt Newman wrote: If you are learning C# may I recommend Inside C# 2nd Edition by Tom Archer (cpian too nonetheless). In fact i'll be giving a couple copies away at my next C# talk. Matt, Just read a little while ago a post by Tom Archer saying he didn't think MS was interested in a 3rd Edition. What is MS thinking???
