I looked there but I didn't bother to put a breakpoint to see if it was getting there. I had overridden the CWinApp->ExitInstance(). I made a call to the SaveStdProfileSettings() there and everything is back to normal. Thanks David, Rome

Work for the emergency services doing a gazeteer product - what exactly do you mean by parsing an address - surely it's just a string manip. thing..... If on the other hand, what you need is something to look at an unformatted addr and split it into its constituent elements then will be in a world of hurt.....all it takes is a null locality / area / route or the like, and it all goes screwey! don't know if this will work in VC++ 7, but in VC++6 it does: you can just modify and save the header file... (it's fastest than deleting the *.clw) hope this helps...

Entering the range Ã-ÿ does seem to work. The ASCII table in your link seems to be code page 850 (American). If you bring up the character map, under Accessories, you can see the values for those characters (Windows code page which I think is 1252??) The problem is that I will be parsing data from databases. With databases you can specify the code page to use. This would cause a problem with using the range you specified. I found a few links http://www.unicode.org/reports/tr18/ http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/books/sampchap/5957.asp There is a [/p{Greek}] and a few other languages but no French.
