    In the UK (Yorkshire) we use "Gnats cock hair" - no not to clean our teeth, it's just an expression. Why do I still work here?

  • C++ Dialog Editor Bugs?
    S Silver Ghost

    When I create a new Dialog in Visual C++ 6.0 the dialog editor window creates a small black box in the top left hand corner of the Dialog Editor window. It has basically created a dialog box with no size and the Cancel/OK buttons off the screen. I can resize this by dragging but often the buttons do not reappear and I hace to manually edit the .rc file to move/delete them. When I open Dialogs for editing they are also shrunk to vertically. Both these "bugs" cause the Guides to get messed up, I can usually drag the Left/Right/Top guides to get them back, but haven't found a way to get the Bottom one back, though this doesn't concern me too much. Has anyones also had this problem? I wndered if it is caused by my display setup. I am using a Dell Precision M50 laptop with nVidia Quadro4 700 GoGL graphics. This is running in Horizontal Span Mode with a CRT giving a desktop of 2560x1024. The nVidia driver is set to not allow Windows to Span multiple monitors. I use the latop as the Primary Display and the CRT as secondary. I am 'using' Visual Studio on the CRT, though the problem also appears if I use the laptop display. Why do I still work here?:(

    I use a DELL Precision M50 2.0GHz P4 with 512Mb DDR RAM and 40Gb Hard Disk for full time Development. Windows 2000, VS6.0 and dotNET. This is higher specified than most of the PC's in the Company, though the Drawing Office Workstaions with SCSI drives have an advantage. We need the laptops so we can move to test sites to debug software/equipment as we write ATE software. It's about 10 times faster than the PIII 450MHz 512Mb PC100 I used before. Why Am I Still Here?
