60D/20U Work from home and the speed is OK. Based in the UK, we're in the Lake District, rural, and about 3 miles from the Telephone Exchange and I'm still copper for 1/4mile to the street box. My friend on the other side of the street can only get 30D/12U max on a good day. There are 2 copper truck cables back to the street box 1/4 mile away. I'm one bundle and he's on the other. So I guess the quality and distance of the last 1/4 mile copper makes a big differences.

Code First, do you like it?what about different flavours of coffee? does it help? Its normal coffee first (medium don't want to shock the heart to early, got work to do), then mid-morning, may be a orange flavoured coffee or cameral. Just received some Chocolate Mint, but not sure I like this one.

Is any one using MS Access?it does seem a mix bag of usage and divided opinions. I knew there would be a large legacy code base, but it does seem that its still very much alive. Like it said in my last post, its time for a survey, but I think it should just be for access not for other DB, so we can get an overall picture. With so many legacy systems still using it and developers less keen to be, err...'associated' with it , may be it will become a high pay niche sector, I'm thinking cobalt/Fortran/Ada etc

Is any one using MS Access?Good to here for everyone, sounds like its still very much alive and I didn't know, which is why I asked the question. I was always led to believe that access was 'evil' and something for hobby use only, So I never got involved. Your right, you can use any language to write bad code/projects. I think its time we had a survey!! Top 10? but which ones, I'm sure this will divide the community, and possible the world ;)

Is any one using MS Access? No Sarcasm, genuine question. I've been aware of Access since windows 3.1 (I think access was available then, anyway along time), just never used it. Just never though/considered it's use, no reason not to. During my early programming life, it was all embedded microcontrollers running C/asm with about 32K of program code. My most of the work is still embedded stuff. I've only really started using DB in the last 6 years. combination of sql compact, express, localDb and MySQL, selecting whichever suited the project/client the best. I'm no DB expert, there's always something to learn!! But I updated office yesterday, noticed access and opened it up to have a look. Which made me wonder if any one currently uses it.

Is any one using MS Access?I was going to say, why don't they use locaDB/sqlexpress instead, but thinking about it, if your in Africa etc, and you're an end user (not a developer), and you have need for a DB, what options do you have? I had a very quick look at access this morning, it does seem to come with ready made templates that an end user could quickly get setup and use. I'm not about to start using it!! :) But for non developer/end users that want a simple DB, what other options do they have? Search for an app already made for the job. As an example, I've just googled 'CD Database software' ... and there where lots of hits

Is any one using MS Access?I remember it been used along time ago for a stores DB (not by me, I was young and DB were the preserve of the gods!!) But if I want a DB for my app I've always used SQL Compact and lately, LocalDB.

Is any one using MS Access?I've reviewed the comments and have decided NOT to consider Access for anything, I apologise to everyone for bring it up and will seek counselling to prevent me having these though again. :)

Is any one using MS Access?Professionally I use SQL Express, LocalDB and MySQL and couldn't think of any reason to use Access. Just though it was a hang over from another era, and looking at the comments, looks like it is. So why is it still shipped? MS has dropped other technologies over the years? I guess it still has a large user base

Is any one using MS Access?Just updated office 365 and along with it Access 2016. I've never used it. Does anyone use it? What for? and should I?

View of the world through a 6 year oldMy Daughter asked my wife, "what is wrong with Daddy's work" , My wife Replied, "He's got a bug in his software", "How did it get in there?", she said and "Can it get out?" After working a long day trying to find a memory leak in some embedded code, it did bring a smile to my face!! :)
